Love Island viewers were left fuming when final dates were scrapped and replaced with a 'pathetic' group dinner during Monday's Grand Finale.

The four remaining couples all dined together on a large table in the villa's garden before taking it in turns to declare their love for one another.

Previous years have seen couples enjoy romantic clifftop dinners and boat trips, however this year it was all change.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans were convinced bosses had wasted the budget on dumped star Joey Essex - despite him being paid the same £375 weekly fee as the other singeltons.

Writing: 'Bringing Joey Essex was a bad choice. The budget is horrid': 'They blew the budget on Joey this season, no big dates? No podium for the declaration of love? What is going on?': 'Joey ate up all Love Island budget, they barely even left to do tsks now group dinner. hmm'.

Meanwhile Joey is reportedly set to earn a whopping £250,000 with a club tour following his Love Island dumping.

The former TOWIE star was sent packing from the villa on Sunday night's show with his partner Jessy Potts after the ex Islanders voted them the least compatible couple.

But despite not making the final Joey - who is already worth £8million - could be set for the last laugh with a potential quarter of a million to bank if he does a club tour.

The Sun reports that his team has a string of £6,000-an-hour UK dates lined up where fans can take selfies and party with the star.

The £375 a week to appear on the show is to cover the Islanders' rent and bills back at home while they are away, and Joey received the same as everyone else.

A TV source told MailOnline at the time: 'Joey is being treated like any other Love Island contestant, he's playing by the same rules and won't be given any preferential treatment.

'He hasn't been paid an appearance fee or any money at all for signing up to the show, not a penny.

'On Love Island, it is all about the exposure and for Joey, it means more than that too... He's looking for someone to settle down with, so it's not about the money he can make on the other side.'

But he could be set to become one of the country's wealthiest reality stars with his reported new string of club appearances.

A representative for Joey has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Joey and Jessy were dumped from the show on Sunday night.

The couple were sent packing just one day before the series final as their former co-stars from the seas on returned to settle scores.

While they were tasked with picking who they believed to be the least compatible couple, Joey accused them of picking on him for personal reasons.

Ayo Odukoya and Jess Spencer also received several votes from the ex Islanders however it was ultimately Joey and Jessy who had to leave.

Joey and Jessy received a total of seven votes, while Ayo and Jess received four, meaning they were one of four couples who have made it to Monday's final.

Matilda Draper and Sean Stone also received two votes from former contestants Omar Nyame and Ronnie Vint.

Before the decision was announced,' host Maya Jama told the contestants: 'Today, one final couple will be dumped from the villa, ending their Love Island journey and that decision isn't in your hands.

'Your future on Love Island will be decided by some very familiar faces.'

Then, a series of former Islanders made their way into the villa, and headed to the firepit.

The group were then asked to choose which couple they wanted to send home and they opted for Joey and Jessy.

Joey subsequently claimed that he was leaving the villa 'at a good time'.

He explained: 'It feels good to be leaving.

'I feel like I had an amazing run in there, went through the full cycle of emotions you get in the villa, and if you have to leave, you might as well go out with a bang … It's my birthday on Monday so feels like I'm going out at a good time.'
