Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 – this is a very big leak (Activision)

Details of the maps, UI, and weapons in this year’s new Call Of Duty have been leaked, along with footage of Black Ops 6’s multiplayer.

Call Of Duty is always prone to leaks but this weekend was different, with so much footage of an early version of Black Ops 6 appearing online that almost everything about its multiplayer seems to have been laid bare.

It’s unclear where the footage has come from, but it seems like the leaker might have somehow got access to the beta ahead of time. Whatever the case, they were running the PlayStation 4 version, which is why the graphics don’t look so good.

Leaker betterthanalaix used a new Twitter account to dump the images online and while they were quickly taken down by Activision, they were up long enough for people to make copies and distribute them around the Call Of Duty community.

We can’t show the images or footage here for legal reasons but they’re all from the multiplayer, with nothing from the story campaign or Zombies mode.

Of the 20 multiplayer maps, several seem to be based on maps from the original Black Ops in 2010, or other games in the series, while others appear to be original.

It’s difficult to tell, especially as the names aren’t necessarily final, but Nuketown and Firing Range are definitely nods to famous maps from the original Black Ops. Dig was DLC for Black Ops 2, and was itself a remake of Courtyard from World At War, while Hacienda alt may be a reference to Hacienda Twilight from Black Ops 4.

Radar may be a remake of the map from Vanguard, which was a remake of Dome from the original Modern Warfare 3, but that’s less certain as developer Treyarch didn’t make those games. Vokuta is the name of the Russian labour camp from Black Ops 1, so there’s clearly a lot of references to the earlier games going on.

It will take fans days to make sense of all the leaked weapons, killstreaks, and perks but it seems as if Tactical Stance is definitely back for this year.

What’s also obvious is that the interface has seen a major change. It’s now much more vertical, with less emphasis on having to right scroll to select options.

It’s likely that the leak had something to do with the CODNext event planned for August 28, which was meant to be when the multiplayer would be officially unveiled, ahead of a planned beta.

That’s probably why Activision is being so thorough in removing the images from the internet, although it’s inevitably a losing battle.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 25. It will be the first Call Of Duty to be released day one on Xbox Game Pass.
