Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s LA home was reportedly recently burglarized in broad daylight.

The famous couple’s house was robbed a few weeks ago with the perpetrators smashing a guest home window to gain access to the property.

Law enforcement officials confirmed to TMZ that a break-in at the $26million Pacific Palisades residence did occur, but they didn’t reveal what – if anything – was stolen.

No arrests have been made in the ongoing case, and the Castaway star and his wife were reportedly out of town at the time of the break-in.

The couple purchased their 14,513sq ft home – which features four bedrooms and five bathrooms – in January 2010.

According to Architectural Digest, the limestone cliffside mansion also offers a wine cellar, a pool, and a motor court.

Hanks and Wilson are now among a growing group of famous people who have been affected by a string of robberies in the area.

Internet personality/rapper Bhad Bhabie and actress Sarah Hyland have also reportedly had their homes broken into in recent months.

The news of this most recent break-in comes in the wake of Wilson and Hanks’ names appearing in headlines for a very different reason.

The pair’s son, actor Chet Hanks, 33, is currently starring in MTV’s Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets, a Big Brother-style reality TV series with several other celebrities including Singer Macy Gray, Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke, and Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey.

On Tuesday, July 23, during the season premiere, he revealed that he spent much of his childhood feeling ‘worthless’.

‘I’ll tell you something about my childhood. People think that being Tom Hanks’ son, like, I would grow up feeling like I was the s**t,’ Chet said.

‘I actually grew up feeling completely f**king worthless.’

As the family navigates Chet’s very public revelation, this recent robbery is likely adding an additional layer of stress.

It seems the stars are part of a troubling growing trend in the area.

According to NBC, LA’s Police Chief stated that the number of burglaries reported in the City in 2024 increased by 4%, and that more than half of the locations targeted were residences like Hanks and Wilson’s.

‘These are happening very quickly,’ Chief Dominic Choi told the Board of Police Commissioners about the uptick in robberies.

‘We’re not seeing the entire house being ransacked,’ he continued.

‘These individuals that are conducting these high-end burglaries know what they’re looking for, and they’re in and out in a few minutes.’
