Lana Del Rey fans are convinced an infamous ‘curse’ she predicted for female singers has come true.
Fans of the Summertime Sadness hitmaker, 39, have long thought she was a prophet after she seemingly predicted drama surrounding her fellow pop stars Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, and Cardi B.
The now-deleted open letter expressed her frustrations that the music industry did not leave space for her and her music.
She pitted her style against female singers who ‘have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f***ing, cheating etc.’
In the post, she additionally named Kehlani, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce, and fans on a Reddit thread summarised that the prophecy is now complete after rapper Kehlani, 29, was slammed for posting a photo with Chris Brown.
The No One Else singer, who was arrested in 2009 for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna, shared a photo on his Instagram Stories cosied up to the After Hours musician, whom he called his ‘twin’.
The post claimed that the curse has now claimed everyone Lana named in the infamous now-deleted Instagram post.
User Rude_Lifeguard shared their reasoning, citing backlash Doja Cat faced for wearing a T-shirt with an alleged neo-nazi on it, and Ariana Grande’s cheating scandal with now-boyfriend Ethan Slater.
The post goes on to say Camilla Cabello’s album C,XOXO and Beyonce’s Cecred product range both supposedly ‘flopped’ as further evidence of the curse’s power, as well as citing Cardi B’s breakup from husband Offset.
The Reddit user also cites Nicki Minaj’s relationship with husband Kenneth Petty, who was convicted of attempted first-degree rape in connection with a 1994 assault.
Following Kehlani’s photo, many fans on the thread predicted Del Rey’s curse is now ‘complete’ following this string of controversies involving female singers.
‘Omg she’s actually a witch,’ _pierogii theorised, while others talked about how ‘wild’ the singer’s rant was in the first place.
‘Question for the culture never fails to get a snicker from me,’ Filibust wrote.
MsTrippp asked: ‘I don’t get why she had to name all those other artists to get her point across….but ok sure.’
Caltuxpebbles added: ‘I still don’t know what Lana Del Rey is saying all these years later.’
Other scandals have surrounded the artists she named, such as Doja turning on her own fans in a vicious social media rant, and Camilla being linked to Rauw Alejandro, 30, days after he broke up with Spanish singer and fiancee Rosalía.
These rumours have been debunked by a source who told Page Six it’s ‘100% not true’.
Cardi was also condemned for throwing a microphone at a fan after being doused with their drink.
