Netflix’s hit dating series Love Is Blind has finally arrived on UK shores but where exactly are these lovers playing out their whirlwind romance?

Over the course of several weeks co-hosts, and married couple, Emma and Matt Willis will guide hopeful contestants on the path of true love, from their sight unseen meetings in the famed pods to the alter on their wedding day.

The first part of the experiment sees 30 contestants speed date their way through a string of strangers, in the hopes of finding that unique spark. For those who make a connection, they’ll get engaged before finally being able to lay eyes on one another.

Next, the happy couples are sent on a destination holiday to get to know one another under the beating sun and sandy beaches. And, of course, get to know their potential other suitors.

Finally, all the couples head back to the UK to meet friends and family and see if their bond can not only handle real-life troubles but make it all the way to saying ‘I do’ at the wedding altar.

The format has been a huge success internationally. In the US, where the show originally aired in 2020, they have filmed across several cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Houston and North Carolina.

Meanwhile, there have been spin-off seasons in Japan, Brazil, Sweden, Germany, Mexico, Argentina and the UAE meaning locations from all across the world have been explored.

Now it is the UK’s turn with contestants harking from across the nation including London, Belfast, Edinburgh, Surrey, Berkshire, Jersey and Preston.

So, without further ado, here’s all you need to know about exactly where Netflix filmed the show’s most pivotal moments.

The Love Is Blind pods

The quintessential Love Is Blind pods transcend shows, with the US set getting shipped across the states and international sets getting built as exact replicas.

Following in the footsteps of their Swedish counterparts, the UK cohort was flown to a studio in Stockholm, Sweden to film the pod portion of the series.

As creator Chris Coelen told Netflix: ‘The pods are designed so that all you’re focusing on are your emotions and your connections, and you’re not really even thinking about the fact that you’re in Atlanta, or Chicago, or LA, or wherever you are.

‘It doesn’t matter if I put the pods in Timbuktu; they’re the same pods.’

As for Emma and Matt, they are sent in for a couple days at a time to reset each stage of the experiment, as the pair explained to Metro.co.uk.

The mid-season romantic getaway

Next, we enter the honeymoon phase of the show. In seasons gone by the stars have been sent to the likes of Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Brazil’s Santa Catarina.

This time round the newly engaged couples got to enjoy an idyllic retreat on the Greek Island of Corfu.

More specifically, they are staying in the Angsana Corfu Resort and Spa, a luxury five-star hotel.

As described on the hotel’s website, it is ‘perched on a verdant hill by the clear crystal waters of the Ionian Sea with features including a ‘breathtaking 1000 sqm infinity pool’ as well as ’37 private pool villas’.

And if anyone was having a good time during this section of the show it was Busted star Matt, who joked: ‘I’m normally on a sweaty tour bus with loads of men
so it was really nice to be on a beach in Corfu instead.’

The end-of-season weddings

Finally, the couples are re-introduced to harsh reality as they go back to their respective homes to meet each other’s friends and families and decide if they truly fit into each other’s stories.

All of this culminates on the fated wedding day which, during the UK season, takes place in Wynyard Hall in Country Durham.

The 18th century, grade 2 listed country house boasts a unique chapel, one of the largest rose gardens in Britain and 400 acres of estate.

Over the course of the weddings filmed for Love Is Blind, the production company used up 8000 flowers, many of which were donated to a local hospice after use.

On what it was like to film the weddings for this season, series editor David Cheesman said: that since it is a ‘real wedding’ it comes with ‘the heightened emotion of anyone getting married’.

He continued: ‘Then you add in the speed at which some of them were doing this. We never really knew which way it was going to go and neither did we want to know too much.

‘We needed them all to make a decision based on how they were really feeling because it’s a legally binding contract and it was their whole future.’
