Robert Logan, an actor on 77 Sunset Strip, has died aged 82.

He passed away on May 6 of natural causes, in Estero, Florida, with the family choosing to wait to announce his death.

The Hollywood Reporter originally reported on his passing after being informed by Logan’s son Anthony.

Logan played J.R. Hale, a hipster valet parking attendant on the ABC detective show. He succeeded Kookie, played by Edward Byrnes, who goes from the job to being a full-fledged investigator.

He took on the role for 50 episodes, in the series that starred Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith as detectives Stu Bailey and Jeff Spencer.

He featured in the fourth and fifth seasons before departing in 1963.

Logan also starred in the family-friendly film franchise, Wilderness Family, which saw him star in a trio of films during the 70s.

He played construction worker Skip Robinson who builds a cabin in the woods to escape the city and moves there alongside his wife and two children.

Alongside the box office hit, he also played another dad in Across the Great Divide and The Sea Gypsies.

While dining in a restaurant in Arizona where Logan attended university on a baseball scholarship, the New York native was scouted by a Warner Bros representative and eventually signed a contract.

This chance meeting led to the start of his career in Hollywood.

On top of 77 Sunset Strip, he also appeared in the studio’s Maverick, Surfside 6, and Claudelle.

On top of acting, he was on the racing yacht Ticonderoga who set a world record for a trans-Pacific run to Tahiti in 1964.
