The Simpsons fans have declared the series has successfully fulfilled yet another prediction following a viral Olympic moment.
Over the past few days Australian breakdancer Raygun, real name Rachael Gunn, has become one of the most talked-about stars of the Paris Olympics following her unique performance.
Although the 36-year-old failed to score any points following three rounds of heats in her sport on Friday night, she’s picked up plenty of fans around the world for her unique approach to breaking, a competitive form of breakdancing.
When taking to the stage, Raygun displayed a string of unique moves, including hopping around like a kangaroo and writhing around on the floor.
Despite her moves falling flat with the judges, many watching from home couldn’t get enough.
However, some did also start making comparisons between her routine and an old The Simpsons episode, with some saying it was proof the long-running series had made yet another prediction come true.
In a 1993 episode of the animated series, titled Last Exit to Springfield, Homer becomes president of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant’s trade union and leads the workers of the plant in a strike in order to restore their dental plan to avoid the family having to pay out-of-pocket for Lisa’s new braces.
However, after Homer somehow manages to lead the union through negotiations, Mr Burns agrees to their demands, but on the condition Homer resigns from his role.
Clearly happy to do so, Homer celebrates and lets out a celebratory ‘woo’ before jumping on the floor and dancing around on his side.
The move wasn’t too far off from one performed by Raygun, leaving many people rushing to point out the similarities.
‘I knew I’d seen Raygun’s routine before,’ Joe Burke posted on YouTube alongside a clip of both her and Homer’s moves.
‘Once again, The Simpsons totally nailed it predicting Raygun’s Olympic Breaking routine,’ user Judah posted on X.
‘Raygun’s incredible Olympic performance was prophesied years ago by the Simpsons,’ Donovan shared.
‘Watching Aussie B-girl Raygun’s breakdancing, and I swear she copied her last move from the Simpsons,’ Justin added.
Others declare they ‘thought the moves looked familiar’ when tuning into the Olympics.
In recent years, The Simpsons writers have convinced us that they are, in fact, time travellers, getting a suspicious number of things right, from Donald Trump being elected as the President of America, Barbie mania, Elon Musk’s Twitter rebrand and even the Coronavirus pandemic.
