One guy went viral for a rather hilarious reason during the Olympics closing ceremony (Picture: BBC)

For thousands of viewers, the highlight of the Olympics closing ceremony was one man and his bowl of noodles.

Held in Paris at Stade de France, the closing ceremony celebrated the last three weeks of sporting greatness with performances from hundreds of acrobats, dancers, and circus artists.

There were also the usual parades of athletes and a display of the participating nations’ flags, with a segment dedicated to the host city handover from Paris to Los Angeles.

While all of that was very exciting, as to be expected, it was the little things that got social media talking.

Providing a running commentary on the ceremony’s antics, eagle-eyed X users were left in stitches when one man appeared to be eating noodles mid-orchestra performance.

Early on in the ceremony, the musical ensemble captivated the packed venue, plus millions watching along at home, with their talents.

What people noticed, however, was the guy casually tucking into noodles with chopsticks beside them, blissfully unaware that he was about to send the internet into meltdown.

The video soon made its way online and quickly garnered over one million views, as BexMix_41 wrote: ‘Shoutout to the guy just casually eating noodles during the orchestra performance in the #ClosingCeremony’.

‘This could be the highlight of the evening!’, declared trumpetlill.

JustinLever3 joked: ‘I want to be as care free as that guy’.

‘I could do this job in an orchestra’, laughed _Peebs69.

Others said they would happily take his job in the orchestra and praised him for smart thinking given how long the ceremony lasts.

This is far from the first viral moment we’ve had in the 2024 Olympics, which has provided as many memes as it has medals.

We also had another Simpsons prediction seemingly coming to fruition after Australian breakdancer Raygun – real name Rachael Gunn – became one of the Games’ most talked-about stars thanks to her unique performance.

As such, TV fans soon noticed the similarities between her dancing and a scene in the much-loved animated series, in which Homer performed a series of similar moves in the 1990s.

Elsewhere, Canada’s Alysha Newman went viral for her twerking celebration after pole vaulting, and who could forget French athlete Anthony Ammirati and his sizeable package?

Coming through with the highly-memeable content until the end, the Olympics ended with a series of death-defying stunts from the one and only Tom Cruise, who instigated the official flag handover to Los Angeles.

Descending over 130feet from the stadium’s roof, the Mission: Impossible actor channelled Ethan Hunt in his trademark leather jacket.

The Hollywood icon was greeted by Olympians and fans in the crowd before zooming off on a motorbike.

Reacting to the epic display – which concluded with footage of him skydiving and sprinting up to the Hollywood sign – viewers were stunned.

X user Mattzel89 wrote: ‘Tom Cruise is 62 years old btw’.

AllThingsDante wrote: H.E.R. performing a guitar solo while Tom Cruise jumps off the stadium roof and then rides the Olympic flag around Paris on a motorcycle…and then onto a plane…and then jumps out the plane into LA. #LA2028 is gonna be wild’.

TCNews62 declared that they were ‘speechless’ and praised the movie star as ‘one of a kind’.
