WWE superstar Jade Cargill wants more for Women’s Tag Team Championships – and she insists fans have to make their voices heard.

The SmackDown wrestler held the gold earlier this year with Bianca Belair before losing the titles to current champs Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, who are known as The Unholy Union, and they want fans to ‘demand’ more focus on the division.

Jade, who is expected to be in Germany for Bash In Berlin later this month, exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s a big deal. You know, one of our goals is to consistently have this belt on [premium live events].

‘So, we want people, we want the fans, to demand it, because we’re out here having these phenomenal matches.

‘We have Bianca, we have myself, and we’re so used to being solo artists. And being able to work with her and to bring it together and have these matches, they should be demanding to want to see that.’

It’s been quite the journey for Jade, who made her in-ring WWE debut in the Royal Rumble match back in January, before having her first proper match teaming with Bianca and Naomi at WrestleMania 40 in April.

‘It was a whirlwind of emotions. I wouldn’t say I was so much nervous. I don’t really get nervous for events, but I’ve never wrestled in front of this magnitude of people,’ she recalled.

‘Going out there and performing for the women’s division, it’s a lot on your shoulders, right? But I can say the locker room held me down, and they supported me, and they asked me if I needed anything, down to the water before going out.’

As well as her family and friends behind the scenes, it’s meant a lot having Bianca – ‘one of the most decorated women in WWE history’ – and ‘veteran’ Naomi by her side.

‘It was astonishing, just to work with these two women, and then to go out there and just to represent, and have representation that echoes for for years,’ she said.

Before joining WWE, she had wrestled just 62 matches for rivals All Elite Wrestling (AEW), and it’s been a welcome changed getting to hone her skills on live events alongside women ‘who have been working their butts off since the indies and NXT’.

‘It’s important for me to get these reps to see what works and what doesn’t work,; she admitted. ‘Because prior, everything had to work because everything was on TV. So now I can experiment!’

It can be an unforgiving environment, learning and progressing while the whole world is watching, and that was no more apparent than back in June when Jade suffered an awkward slip on the rope at Clash At The Castle in Glasgow.

‘I just had to keep on going. I can’t just lay there,’ she revealed of her immediate thoughts in the moment. ‘I’ve never, ever, ever in my career, ever took a fall like that.’

She added: ‘I’ve never failed, I’ve never slipped, I’ve never I hit, all I do, all these power moves. I’ve never fell in my life. So for me to have to do that, you know, mid air, I was like, dang! But I just knew I had to keep going.’

Jade pointed out that her own attitude in that moment ‘speaks volumes’, to be able to ‘keep it moves’ with ‘a smile on her face’.

‘A lot of people wouldn’t be able to do that. They would probably crumble under pressure. But diamonds are created under pressure, and that’s what I am,’ she smiled.

Although there was some backlash from trolls online, thankfully Jade doesn’t see the criticism online, as she mostly comes across fans wanting her to go ‘solo’.

‘I’m like, “Yeah, be patient,”‘ she added. ‘But overall, the perception and what I see on my social media is so much love and so much appreciation.’

Jade has the WWE world at her feet, and for now she’s focused on ‘putting on great matches’ with clear goals in sight for her legacy.

‘I’m going to get the WWE Women’s World title. That’s going to happen. Being a legend in this industry – that’s going to happen,’ she promised.

‘I want to be one of those people that’s a staple for the women’s division, and I will be.

‘In my three years, I’m already being talked about. Just imagine as I grow here, and I work with the top women, and I continue to grow and I keep on being shaped and molded. It’s it’s inevitable.’

The bravado might not please her critics, but Jade is sure even the naysayers will be changing sides as her career progresses.

‘It’s going to happen whether people like it or not. And then everybody’s going to sit back and they’re going to say they’ve seen the vision,’ she smiled. ‘But thankfully for the internet, you can pull up everything.’
