Jeremy Clarkson’s pub has already had a visit from the police despite not being open to the public yet.

The former Top Gear star, 64, has not yet opened his Cotswolds pub, The Windmill, but it has already attracted plenty of attention, including from local police officers.

However, the visit came down to a very relatable error on the part of Clarkson’s Farm personality Charlie Ireland.

In a post shared on Instagram, Jeremy’s lager and cider company Hawkstone revealed an update showing Charlie chatting with police on the side of the road outside of the Oxfordshire pub.

Charlie, who is known as Cheerful Charlie and stars in Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video, shook his head and said: ‘Not today,’ as the camera focused on him.

The person filming pans the camera around to show the police before explaining, ’Because you’ve marked out all of the wrong lines in the application, the police have had to come.’

He added: ‘That’s the sort of trouble you’ve caused,’ as the police and people surrounding them laughed.

The short clip was captioned, ‘There’s a lot still to do to get the pub ready for you the weekend after next – including naming it – Jeremy has an idea for a pub name – guess what it is – and name everyone of the Hawkstone products on the bar – and someone wins a case of 24!’

Fans quickly flocked to the comment section, with some having a chuckle about Charlie’s error. Jaitchins questioned: ‘How can Charlie get it wrong? He’s Mr Perfect’.

Cortez_sketchbook added: ‘Poor Charlie. Not hist best Cheerful self today.’

While others were quick to share their own suggestions for the name of the pub.

Andypole wrote: ‘The Bell End.’ While Stuyalb joked: ‘Clarkson’s Head (then requires giant selfie on the pub sign)’.

Another person, pearcy82, added, ‘Gym… so we can all say we are off to the gym’.

It comes just one day after the Grand Tour star revealed the pub will be open to the public next weekend, which is expected to be between August 23 and 25. He has not confirmed the exact date.

The announcement was made in conjunction with his annual A-Level results day post, ‘Don’t worry if your A-level results aren’t what you were hoping for. I got a C and two Us, and here I am, 46 years later, with my own pub.’

Jeremy faced many obstacles while preparing to open his pub, which he spent £1,000,000 on, including discovering that it was a renowned dogging spot.

In July, he shared a video of himself outside the boozer as he lifted up a pair of black and pink lacey knickers on a stick.

He said: ‘Tell me you bought a pub on a dogging site without telling me you bought a pub on a dogging site.’

While the star didn’t look too impressed, his 8.3million followers thought it was hilarious. S27gdm quipped: ‘Rename the pub The Dog Inn.’

Fergus_foodandme joked: ‘@jeremyclarkson1 you could call it The toad in the hole inn or the naked lady inn or diddly dog inn. Just some suggestions and I’m a huge fan of top gear, diddly squat farm as well as your work in the Sunday times ! 🙌🤣.’

The pub is set to appear in the next series of Jeremy’s show, Clarkson’s Farm.
