Abbey Clancy is not happy with how her teeth look (Picture: REX)

Abbey Clancy is known for her glamorous looks, having started her modelling career on America’s Next Top Model in 2006.

However, the media personality was left raging when braces actually made her smile look worse, as she was left with gnashers resembling those of comedian Sir Ken Dodd.

The 38-year-old wife of football star Peter Crouch shared: ‘My teeth used to be two millimetres sticking out – and now they’re four millimetres sticking out.

‘I’ve ended up having a brace on for six months and coming out with goofier teeth and a thinner palate, which is outrageous.’

Abbey added that ‘the crossbite hasn’t changed. In fact, it’s got worse.’

She had no choice but to confront her dentist and ask: ‘What the hell is going on here?’

‘I’m that comedian with all the teeth. The Scouse one. With the feather duster. Ken Dodd,’ she mocked.

Abbey has been reassured that her teeth will straighten out, so she needn’t fear looking like Sir Ken forever.

She continued on her and Peter’s podcast, The Therapy Crouch: ‘The dentist said to me, “The teeth move in a certain way. And then after that, they come back in”.’

Sir Ken, who died aged 90 in 2018, admitted that his buck teeth were his ‘trademark’.

He gained them after accepting a dare when he was seven years old, with a group of friends challenging him to ride his bike with his eyes closed.

This led to a crash and Sir Ken sustaining facial injuries, resulting in his distinctive look.

The legendary comic frequently poked fun at himself, including during his radio debut on Workers’ Playtime.

‘I’m the only man in the world who can eat a tomato through a tennis racket,’ he said.

Meanwhile, model Abbey spoke about her decision to get braces at 33 in 2019.

Following in the footsteps of stars such as Davina McCall, who also got braces as an adult, she told Hello! Magazine: ‘I think people look their best when they’re happy and smiling, and having a brace was just something I have wanted to do for a long time.

‘Everyone has up and down days and although I’m not a super confident person, I don’t feel pressure to look perfect. I’m confident in myself and around other people, but naturally, I have the same hang-ups as everyone else.’

Abbey is never one to hold back when it comes to candid discussions about her personal life, particularly on her podcast.

The star – who married Peter in 2011 and shares four children with him – is known for delving into the details of their sex lives and the ups and downs of marriage.

This has included their struggles to keep the ‘spark’ alive after 20 years together, as they went through a rough patch not long ago.

However, they were able to reconnect on a trip to Thailand. Abbey told new! Magazine: ‘Pete and I have been together for nearly 20 years, and it’s hard to keep the spark alive.

‘The main thing is not to take each other for granted, and Pete surprised me with a trip to Thailand, which was such a thoughtful thing to do.’

She added: ‘The only thing was Pete didn’t realise it was monsoon season it rained non-stop! We were there for 48 hours and we didn’t leave our room.’

‘Pete says it wasn’t his finest hour, but I didn’t moan. I was just grateful for all the effort he’d gone to. I feel rejuvenated, and like I can be a better mother and wife,’ Abbey shared.
