After the TikTok video was uploaded it amassed over one million views and sparked fierce debate in the comments - with critics labelling it 'tone-deaf' amid the cost of living crisis.

Despite the fashion focus of the video, seeing Lydia check into the exclusive hotel at a time when millions of Brits were struggling  to afford food and heating didn't sit well with her followers.

'Must be nice,' one said. 'The rest of us peasants are currently using hot water bottles and hoodies.'

Another added: 'Going to the Savoy because her heating is broken when half the country can't afford to turn theirs on...'

'When my boiler broke, I went to my mums in my PJs, a third said.

'I can't believe this isn't satire,' a fourth wrote.

Lydia replied: 'My heart breaks too, it's honestly heartbreaking I just hope you know that other people's realities can be different and that's not wrong x.'
