Bake Off legend Maggie Beer is being treated by doctors after suffering a worrying fall, her family announced on Instagram.

The 79-year-old was a judge on the Australian version of the hit British baking competition series from 2015 until 2022 and is a regular guest on MasterChef Australia.

In a statement published today, the Aussie food icon’s family said she was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with ‘a couple of minor bone fractures and other related injuries.’

They said Maggie was now in the ‘excellent hands’ of her doctors, who are confident she will fully recover, but it ‘may just take a little while.’

Maggie’s family wrote: ‘Hello Friends, It’s Maggie’s family here. Just writing to let you know that following a fall at her home, she’s unfortunately suffered a couple of minor bone fractures and related injuries.

‘Thankfully Col, her husband, was there and she is now in the excellent hands of her doctors who are confident she will make a full recovery. It may just take a little while.
