WWE Raw general manager Adam Pearce has ‘fined’ CM Punk after he and Drew McIntyre dialed up their rivalry just days before their Strap Match at Bash In Berlin.

On Saturday night, the two bitter rivals will collide in a SummerSlam rematch with a leather strap tying them together and ensuring neither of them can escape the brutality.

During this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Punk ambushed the Scottish Warrior in the ring and attacked him with the strap they’ll be connected with this weekend.

Security rushed out to pull them apart, but the Voice of the Voiceless wasn’t to be deterred as he turned on the guards, whipping them in retaliation for getting involved.

Fans cheered him on, but general manager Pearce has since taken to social media and confirmed he has punished Punk in the storyline’s latest development.

He tweeted: ‘CM Punk has been fined an undisclosed amount for assaulting security with the leather strap that will be used in his Strap Match against Drew McIntyre at #WWEBash.’

Before his sneak attack on McIntyre, Punk was camping out under the ring and live streamed the whole buildup on Instagram as he reacted to the Scotsman’s strong words.

The former world champion accused the fans of enabling the veteran, claiming that Punk was clearly scared of him because he was always attacking him from behind.

The stage is set for the two to get back in the ring together weeks after clashing at SummerSlam, where Seth Rollins was the special guest referee.

Their rivalry has blurred the lines between reality and fiction, with genuine bad blood going back to 2011.

‘You’ve gotta be professional and good at your job,’ he exclusively told Metro.co.uk when asked about the two stars still managing to work together.

He added: ‘If anything, it makes it more compelling because you know… we just don’t like each other.’

Up Next

McIntyre is yet to really go into detail about their real life issues, but he isn’t ruling out pulling back the curtain one day in the future.

‘There’s plenty of truth. I’m not just saying these things and I’m Daniel Day Lewis over here,’ he laughed.

‘I genuinely mean what I’m saying. That’s why people can feel that it’s true. If the right environment, or interview or right story was there, maybe it would come up. It just has to be the right time, the right place.’
