Eddie Redmayne will reportedly bag an eye-watering fee for appearing in a new thriller.

It’s been claimed The Theory of Everything actor, 42, will earn £1,000,000 per episode of 10-part series The Day of the Jackal.

Produced for Sky by the production company behind Downton Abbey, Carnival Films, the thriller is also said to be the channel’s most expensive show ever with a budget of £100million.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Many TV companies and broadcasters are struggling with budgets being squeezed but not with high-end drama for a global audience involving the streamer.

‘If you can do a deal with one of them, you can absolutely break the bank.’

Sky declined to comment when contacted by Metro.co.uk. Eddie’s reps have also been approached.

The Day of the Jackal is a TV adaptation of the 1971 book of the same name by Frederick Forsyth.

It was also turned into a film in 1973, which starred the likes of Edward Fox, Michael Lonsdale and Derek Jacobi.

In the TV series, Eddie plays assassin the Jackal, who makes a living carrying out hits for the highest fee.

However, after his latest kill, he meets his match in a British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch) sparking a cat-and-mouse race across Europe.

The series also stars Money Heist actress Ursula Corbero as Nuria, a character who is close to the Jackal’s personal life, and Game Of Thrones actor Charles Dance as Timothy Winthrop.

Other cast members include The Crown’s Khalid Abdalla, The Capture star Lia Williams, The Walking Dead’s Eleanor Matsuura, and Slow Horses actor Nick Blood.

Speaking ahead of The Day of the Jackal’s launch, Eddie told Vanity Fair that music icon David Bowie served as inspiration for his physical transformation.

On working with his frequent movement coach, Alex Reynolds, to create Jackal’s facial expressions, he said: ‘We found this brilliant interview of David Bowie back from the 70s or 80s, a rare occasion in which he was interviewed just as himself rather than any huge costumes.

‘He was talking about using costume and makeup and personas as a disguise to mask himself. That was intriguing.’

Fans were also thrilled when the trailer, which gave James Bond vibes, for The Day of the Jackal dropped last month.

X user babenataliemay enthused: ‘omg eddie redmayne and lashana lynch?? can’t wait to see this’.

‘Looks dope, will be seated as always with Eddie Redmayne’, wrote slythwalker_28.
