Nostalgia overload – the first ever Call Of Duty: Warzone map returns i(Activision)

The original Verdansk map for Call Of Duty: Warzone is making a comeback next year, as fans welcome it back with open arms.

Activision’s live service shooter Call Of Duty: Warzone launched back in 2020, when video games soared in popularity because of the pandemic, and it has been popular ever since, with a constant stream of new gameplay features, cosmetics, and maps.

Five years later, Verdansk, the very first map created for Warzone will be making a return to the game in spring 2025.

The news was confirmed during the recent Call Of Duty: Next showcase, and judging by the reaction so far fans are thrilled about the prospect of playing the map again.

‘Run it back. Verdansk will return to Call of Duty #Warzone in 2025,’ the Call Of Duty Twitter account states, showing an outline of the map.

The news came after Verdansk’s comeback was leaked by several inside sources beforehand, so it wasn’t actually that much of a surprise.

Verdansk returns with its memorable points of interests, such as Stadium, Superstore, and Train Station, but it’s unclear if it will be exactly the same as before or come with some adjustments to its size and features.

It’s fair to say that console and PC fans are delighted, with Pullze Check saying, ‘Back where it all started… let’s goooooo.’

‘This [is] the only thing that’ll bring me back,’ says Travy.

There’s no exact release date for when Verdansk will be playable again in Warzone, just sometime before June next year.

Verdansk was removed from the map pool in 2021, in favour of Urzikstan, Vondel, and Al Mazrah, but returned in the mobile version of the game earlier this year.

The Call Of Duty: Next showcase also revealed a new Warzone map to launch alongside season 1, when upcoming Black Ops 6 comes out October 25, called Area 99.

Area 99 is a small Resurgence map based on Nuketown, which first appeared in 2010’s Call Of Duty: Black Ops.
