WWE superstar Michin has reflected on how boss Triple H supported her during a difficult period of her career.

The 35-year-old star, real name Mia Yim, was part of the ill fated Retribution group which was hampered by poor creative decisions and failed to catch on with fans, and she admitted her former NXT chief ‘tried’ to help.

Speaking in Germany before Bash In Berlin, she exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘It was nice to know that there was someone that at least tried and cared.’

Mia made the jump to TNA Wrestling in May 2022, six months after she and her husband Keith Lee were released from WWE.

Another six months later, she made her return to WWE, which had recently come under the creative control of Triple H, which made it an ‘easy decision’ to return to the company.

‘Hunter, Triple H, in NXT he felt like a protective father figure,’ she explained.

She added: ‘It was like, “Oh, well, I know how Hunter has treated us at NXT, and seeing all my friends come back and knowing that he has more control, I feel comfortable and I can fully trust him to not fumble [me].” ‘

Mia acknowledged that ‘wrestling is a roller coaster’, but noted that it’s easier to handle the highs and lows under Triple H because his plans ‘always flourish’.

She said: ‘It may take a month, it may take three months, but it always happens how he explains it. So I have never had a reason to doubt his word.

‘I know that if any direction or idea has come about and is presented to me that it could literally start next week, it could start next month, or could start next year, but I know that at least it’s gonna happen.’

That has been apparent in recent weeks, as Mia started to show more of an edge and even challenged Women’s World Champion Nia Jax in a Street Fight in the main event of SmackDown this week.

It’s a relief to be me, to be able to not hold myself back, to be able to show the people that didn’t know me in the independent scene, or even in NXT, to show them who I am, what I can do,’ she said.

There were still nerves going onto last night’s match, and Mia was feeling the pressure as she was determined to throw everything into the bout.

She is no stranger to Street Fights either, having recently faced Jaida Parker in a fierce battle in NXT, which saw her take a painful dive into some steel chairs.

‘I’ve been dealing with an issue with my knee. It’s nothing serious, but it happened in my NXT Street Fight with Jaida, the dive into the chairs, I landed on my knees, and my knee got messed up from that,’ she explained.

‘I was still able to work, I was still able to walk. [It’s] almost 100%.’

Mia knows that life as a wrestler, and in the public eye, means there will always be critics and plenty of ‘toxicity’, but she’s staying focused on her family, her friends, and excelling to the best of her abilities every time she steps in the ring.

‘That’s all that matters, as long as I’m able to live my dream and take care of the people that I love. Then if people hate me for it, that’s fine, they have their opinion of me. It is what it is,’ she said.

‘But ultimately, it’s just trying to remember, this is real life. I get to live my dream, and if people hate me for it, I’m not going to stop doing what I love – so, bring it!’
