US media personality JoJo Siwa has teased she might represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

The Dance Moms star, 21, confirmed on TikTok that she was ‘in talks’ with the country after her song Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today had ‘gone viral’ there.

The popstar shared several videos of herself travelling to Poland and even uploaded a clip of her singing some of the lyrics of her song Karma in Polish.

JoJo said she is of Polish descent on her father’s side and described her heritage as a ‘massive part of my family and ancestry.’

The revelation comes after she sparked backlash among the LGBTQ+ community for making ‘ignorant’ claims and for ‘copying’ Miley Cyrus for entering into her ‘bad girl’ era.

Speaking about Eurovision, JoJo said: ‘Funnily enough I actually happen to be Polish. That’s a massive part of my family, part of my ancestry. So I’ve been able to have a lot of fun with this.’

She continued: ‘Somebody asked if I was gonna do it on Eurovision because [the song] was going viral in Poland. I initially jokingly replied to the comment saying “Yes”, but now it’s actually become a real conversation.

‘Eurovision’s into it. We’re talking with the people in Poland because each country essentially decides who goes to Eurovision to represent that country.

‘We have been talking with everybody, obviously there’s a lot that goes into it, there’s a lot of logistics.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted the Eurovision for comment and has enquired whether JoJo is eligible for the competion.

JoJo has been a divisive figure – and has sparked ire for several misfires while promoting her new pop career.

While promoting song Karma, she told Billboard: ‘When I first signed with Columbia, I said I wanted to start a new genre of music.I said, “It’s called gay pop”.’

Explaining further she added: ‘It’s like K-pop but it’s gay pop.’

This statement did not sit well with the LGBTQ+ community, sparking an immediate backlash for Jojo, who identifies as a lesbian.

However, JoJo appeared to be loving the criticism, especially comparisons to Miley’s Bangerz era where the Flowers hitmaker ditched her Disney image.

‘When I was eight was when Miley had her Bangerz moment and I was like all I want is to have that one day,’ Jojo told podcast Call Her Daddy. ‘I want that.’

Poland’s entry for Eurovision 2024 was Luna with song The Tower but she failed to qualify for the final from the first semi-final. Swiss entry Nemo eventually won the competition.

Earlier this week it was revealed the annual show will take place in Basel, Switzerland at the St Jakobshalle arena.

Semi-finals will take place on May 13 and 15, 2025 with the Grand Final happening on May 17.
