WWE Hall of Famer Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart has been announced for a rare appearance on next week’s Monday Night Raw.
The former world champion, 67, will be back in his hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada as WWE rolls into town, and it will mark his first appearance on the red brand in almost a decade.
In a video shared to X, Bret’s fellow Canadian Jackie Redmond – who is a backstage interviewer and panellist for the company – confirmed the legendary wrestler will be part of the show.
She said: ‘I hope you’re enjoying what’s left of this beautiful, beautiful summer.
‘But I had to hop on because I can officially confirm through some very legitimate sources that this Monday, on the season premiere of Monday Night RAW, Canadian legend Bret “The Hitman” Hart himself will be at the Saddledome in Calgary.’
WWE boss Triple H, real name Paul Levesque, retweeted the clip and added: ‘You definitely won’t want to miss this.’
Although Bret hasn’t appeared on Raw since 2015, he has made occasional appearances at other WWE events, most recently when he was shown in the crowd during 2022’s Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales.
Three years earlier, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2019, but the ceremony took a terrifying turn when a man in the crowd jumped into the ring and tackled The Hitman.
Wrestlers including Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood, Braun Strowman, Big Show, Drake Maverick and Bret’s nephew Davey Boy Smith Jr got involved to subdue the man.
He was led out by security as Bret and his niece Natalya continued their speech, and the wrestling legend appeared at WrestleMania 35 the next night, while WWE said in a statement at the time: ‘An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring.’
His most infamous WWE moment is the Montreal Screwjob at Survivor Series 1997, which saw then-boss Vince McMahon change the script and award Shawn Michaels the WWF Championship, rather than Bret as the intended winner.
Meanwhile, the retired wrestler has been interviewed as part of Netflix’s explosive upcoming documentary series Mr. McMahon.
A trailer for the six-part series dropped this week ahead of the programme’s September 25 release.
Netflix said: ‘The series covers McMahon’s transformation of WWE from a small, regional business into a global entertainment powerhouse, and the explosive sexual misconduct allegations that led to his eventual resignation.’

Bret features in the trailer alongside the likes of John Cena, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and McMahon himself, with many interviews filmed ‘prior to his resignation’.
