Stephen King has called for more episodes of this hit Paramount+ series (Picture: Paramount)

‘Master of Horror’ Stephen King has thrown his support behind a hidden gem Paramount+ series with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

In a new interview, the famed horror author shared his love for the TV series Evil, starring Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Michael Emerson.

Created by Robert and Michelle King, Evil premiered in 2019 and follows sceptical forensic psychologist Dr Kristen Bouchard (Herbers), Catholic seminarian David Acosta (Colter) and technology contractor Ben Shakir (Mandvi) as they are hired by the Catholic Church to investigate potential supernatural events.

Its fourth and final series concluded last month, with fans begging for Paramount+ to release more episodes – including King, the horror mastermind behind The Shining and It among many others.

‘There’s a show called Evil on Paramount+ that I like,’ he told PBS News. ‘It’s great. It’s funny and it’s witty and it’s very, very sharp.’

Herbers shared the interview clip on her X account, writing ‘OKAY CAN WE DO THE PICK UP NOW? thank you @StephenKing #Evil.’

And King clearly agreed, sharing her post with his own message: ‘Dear Paramount+: More EVIL, please.’

Fans of the show were quick to agree, with Angiebulkeley responding: ‘That show is fantastic. I’m so bummed it only lasted as long as it did.’

Notsorrycat added: ‘Yes, I agree with you here Mr. King. Evil was an amazing show that deserves more seasons!’

Debra Kolbow wrote: ‘Yes! I love this show♥️. The ending of the final episode reminded me of the ending of a Stephen King novel!’

Shannon Nut even suggested: ‘When it comes back, you should write an episode.’

Evil currently holds a near-perfect 96% Rotten Tomatoes rating from critics and an 86% score from fans.

Luke Cage star Colter has previously stated there is a possibility Evil will return after plot threads were left hanging in the final episode.

‘No, we won’t wrap everything up. There will always be more thread to leave unravelled, so there’s someplace to go,’ he told Decider.

‘What I can say about the end… I wouldn’t say a cliffhanger. There will be a new chapter that will be open. All we can say about it is, “I want to see where that goes.”

‘I feel like we leave it in a place where there’s potential to continue with the storyline. It’s a nice, interesting way to end it, but not end it. I think fans will be like, “That’s fitting. But now I want to see where the rest of this continues to go.” It’s a perfect ending, I think, for where we are.’
