AEW fans ‘sickened’ as ex WWE stars suffer ‘disgusting’ and extreme violence

AEW All Out left fans shocked and speechless as the company dialed up the violence for a brutal night of wrestling.

From Swerve Strickland being stabbed with a literal syringe and Bryan Danielson, best known to WWE fans as Daniel Bryan, ‘suffocating’ with a plastic bag over his head.

It was an important night for Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling fresh off the back of its second Wembley Stadium event at the end of August, and they didn’t hold back.

Days after setting fire to Swerve’s childhood home, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page delivered an astonishing level of punishment as they met in an ‘unsanctioned’ Steel Cage Match.

As well as stabbing his mouth with a needle, Hangman also rocked his opponent with a sickening chair shot to the head to claim the win.

He even elicited screams from the audience when he appeared to head back towards the ring, with fans heavily invested in the action and willing the punishment to stop.

Elsewhere, current AEW World Heavyweight Champion Bryan Danielson retained his title against Jack Perry, but celebration turned to heartbreak at the hands of his Blackpool Combat Club allies.

Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli – known as Dean Ambrose and Cesaro respectively in WWE – betrayed their former friend and delivered an uncomfortable beatdown.

Taking things to another level, they even put a plastic bag over the American Dragon’s head, and it’s safe to say fans were shocked by the scenes, which was a nod to Ric Flair and the late, great Terry Funk’s iconic feud.

Playing into the show, AEW’s official account tweeted: ‘Due to the graphic nature of the attack on Bryan Danielson, we will not be sharing the footage. AEW does not condone such actions.’

Some fans like @BPCoolJ33 branded the incidents ‘disgusting and unnecessary’, while @DanceDad1969 said the bag was the ‘wrong move’.

They wrote on X: ‘Wrong move pulling the stunt with a plastic bag over Danielson’s head! You have kids watching your show and that script crossed the line.

‘You have lost this fan and hell or high water, I will spread this message worldwide!’

Another account, @UnseriousSport, added: ‘I normally like aew’s weekly shows, and ppvs, but I don’t tune in for slop like the bag, needle, and cinder block spots. I would like Hanger and Swerve to not have chronic back issues by the time they’re 40.’

And @NickCRadio tweeted: ‘Nobody is better in-ring than AEW. Overall, last night’s #AEWAllOut was great. However, the bag and needle stuff was WAY too over the top. There are limits to suspending disbelief. How will Swerve & Danielson respond? Cut off a limb? Actual murder?’

Not everyone was quite so critical, with plenty of fans hyping up the show, while X user @ninnu9291 summed up a lot of people’s opionions.

They wrote: ‘Hangman vs Swerve was disgusting, it was sick, and I loved every bloody second.’

Elsewhere on the show, MJF pinned Daniel Garcia, The Young Bucks retained the tag titles against BCC’s Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, and Will Ospreay beat PAC.

The show also saw Kris Statlander defeated Willow Nightingale in a Street Fight, Kazuchika Okada outlast Mark Brisco, Orange Cassidy and Konosuke Takeshita, and Mercedes Mone beat Hikaru Shida.
