Fans are raging after the reveal of the 2024 Country Music Awards nominations – because Beyonce has been well and truly snubbed.

Beyonce released one of the biggest country albums of the year when she dropped Cowboy Carter in March.

The record was the Grammy winner’s eighth studio album and was met with widespread acclaim for how it pushed boundaries and blended diverse genres, from R&B to blues.

A follow-up to 2022’s hugely successful Rennaisance, Cowboy Carter has been branded a reinvention of Americana, as it highlights Black pioneers and their contributions to American music and culture.

Despite the album being taken to the hearts of millions – and making history by spending four weeks atop the Billboard chart – Beyonce has not received a single nomination for this year’s CMAs.

Fans were in disbelief when the list dropped, especially after the single Texas Hold ‘Em went viral on TikTok, topped the charts worldwide, and was even included in Rolling Stone’s ranking of the 200 greatest country songs of all time.

In contrast, Mogan Wallen leads the way at the CMAs with an impressive seven nominations.

Chris Stapleton and Cody Johnson also have five nominations each, while Post Malone and Lainey Wilson have four.

Wilson, who scooped entertainer of the year at the 2023 ceremony, has once again been recognised in the prestigious category, where she will face off to retain her title against Wallen, Stapleton, Luke Combs, and Jelly Roll.

Beyonce was also eligible for a nom in the entertainer category, however, this is typically reserved for artists who have built up a strong presence in country music throughout their careers, with past winners including Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn.

However, fans were aghast that she was excluded from categories such as single of the year, song of the year, and album of the year, especially given that high-calibre country musicians – including Parton – feature on her record.

Taking to X to express their shock, fans declared that ‘Beyonce deserves better’.

‘Beyonce having no nominations at the #CMAs this year is outlandish’, wrote _tezthecreator.

User quentagious also pointed out: ‘i’m not even the smallest bit surprised that #COWBOYCARTER got no nominations at the CMAs, the only thing gaggy to me is the fact that post malone has 4 nominations and he was on beyoncé’s album before his morgan wallet feature dropped.’

‘As much as the CMAs try to, the ground breaking success and impact of Cowboy Carter will never be erased. Beyoncé broke records, honoured country legends, and paved the way for new black country artists all while releasing a flawless country album’, added youIovemelikexo passionately.

Winners of the CMAs are voted by members of the Country Music Association, which includes artists, executives, songwriters, musicians, publicists, touring personnel, and other industry professionals.

The final round of voting takes place throughout October before the ceremony airs live on ABC on November 20 from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Alas, as fans have far from forgotten, Beyonce’s snub from the awards this year isn’t the first time there’s been a controversy surrounding her.

In 2016, the Love On Top hitmaker surprised the audience by performing Daddy Lessons alongside The Chicks.

While the collaboration was met with great praise others were critical and even threatened to boycott the awards, leading to the video being removed by the CMAs.

Seemingly referencing the debacle in March, Beyonce said ahead of Cowboy Carter’s release: ‘This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcome and it was very clear that I wasn’t.

‘But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of country music and studied our rich musical archive.’

Despite the uproar surrounding her CMAs snub, Beyonce appears to remain unbothered, as she’s been celebrating her nearest and dearest.

The vocal queen, who recently celebrated her 43rd birthday, was spotted at her former assistant Sam Greenberg’s wedding this weekend, joined by husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy, 12.

Looking as elegant as ever, Beyonce wore a long navy, red, and white floral gown while her other half went for a tan suit and white tee, with eldest Blue looking beautiful in a red dress.

Pictures were shared on social media from the occasion, as fans were stunned by her beauty and also praised how she ‘treats her staff like family’.
