In a hilarious moment at the National Television Awards 2024 Ant and Dec won the award for TV presenter prize for the 23rd year in a row – but were tackled by a rival en route.

Unsurprisingly, TV duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly won the TV presenter award of the year for the 23rd time on Wednesday night.

Presented by Clarkson’s Farm’s Kaleb Cooper, the duo looked delighted as they accepted this award- but struggled to actually make their way to the stage.

Bradley Walsh, the presenter of The Chase, jokingly tackled the pair as they approached the stage as he lost to his competition.

Bradley then shouted to the double act on the stage as he joked: ‘Taking the p**s!’

Despite the fact that the presenters had won this award for the 23rd time they were still delighted to be on stage as they thanked their families and Dec pulled out a lip balm gifted to him ‘for luck’ by his six-year-old daughter, telling her it worked!

‘This has never happened before I just want to thank the BBC for giving someone like me a chance.

‘I’m so grateful that I get to do a show like this, but most of all, I wanna thank the families who let us into their homes.

‘It’s an absolute privilege to be able to do something for someone who needs it. Without them, there would be no show.

She then shouted out to thank her children and her husband Joe Swash as she continued to look utterly flabbergasted.

On the red carpet for the event, Kate Garraway spoke about being nominated for her documentary about her late husband Derek Draper.

‘The comments I’ve had and the emails and the letters have been so wonderful, and so obviously it’s been very sad in a way, because you’d love him to be here, or even if he wasn’t well enough to be actually here then to be going home to tell him all about it.’

‘But on the other hand, he will be so happy, I think that the issues that he wanted raised are being raised and so hopefully that’s good.’

She was joined by her two children at the event and said she was proud to be surrounded by the ‘Draper gang.’

Ramona Marquez, Daniel Roche and Tyger Drew-Honey also attended the red carpet and spoke about the upcoming Outnumbered Christmas special.

Marquez who played Karen in the show promised the Christmas special will have ‘classic Outnumbered chaos’.

Roche who played Ben also told PA he was ‘big’ on protecting British broadcasters like Channel 4.

‘Like when they were talking about or when Channel 4 was at risk a couple of years ago I was deeply concerned about that because things like Outnumbered wouldn’t necessarily get made for a global audience.’
