Coleen Nolan has praised her Loose Women co-star Ruth Langsford for approaching her split with Eamonn Holmes ‘with dignity’.

The former This Morning co-presenters, both 64, announced their separation earlier this year in a joint statement and confirmed they were ‘in the process of divorcing’.

However, since then, tensions seem to have been brewing between the former couple after the GB News presenter took his new girlfriend, Katie Alexander, 42, on a luxury Mediterranean cruise recently.

It’s also been claimed that Ruth has hired a ‘fierce’ divorce lawyer after the breakdown of her 14-year marriage.

After four months off screens, Ruth returned to Loose Women last week, with colleague and close friend Coleen, 58, throwing her support behind the presenter.

Expressing her admiration for Ruth, Coleen explained: ‘I don’t want to say too much because it’s not my business to say Ruth’s life, but what I will say from a friend’s point of view is, I’ve never met anyone that has handled something with so much dignity and pride.’

‘She’s just such a lady, more of a lady then I’ll ever be, I would’ve spilled my guts right now – as I do, that’s my problem, I say too much. She’s been absolutely amazing, she really has,’ she added when speaking to Woman Magazine.

Coleen, who has also been divorced twice herself, also said while she had tried sharing advice with Ruth, it hadn’t quite been taken on.

‘I’ve given her advice, but she doesn’t listen to me, I’m going, “How can you not say anything?”. But I don’t need to give her advice.’

Since the split announcement in May, Ruth is yet to publicly address it aside from the initial statement from their representatives, unlike her estranged husband.

In May he addressed the news on his GB News breakfast show, thanking viewers for their ‘support’ which he said was ‘appreciated’.

In June he then told the Daily Mirror he was ‘not ok’, adding: ‘This is not a good time at all.’

Eamonn also shared he hoped he and Ruth could ‘still be friends’.

The couple, who were married in 2010, shared 22-year-old son Jack, while he has three older children from his previous marriage.
