WWE legend Mark Henry has revealed how Rey Mysterio prepares for his matches.
The Worlds Strongest Man spent years in locker rooms with the masked luchador, and he has recalled how his fellow Hall of Famer, 49, would take the time to lay out his gear to make sure everything looked just right.
He said: ‘[You] ever see Rey? Before every match, he would put his mask on the floor, he put his T-shirt that he was gonna wear on the floor. He would put his pants.
‘He would put the underwear that he would wear on top of the pants. He put the socks on the bottom of the pants. He put the shoes, and he would sit there and look at it.’
The 53-year-old star, who has helped bring the likes of Bianca Belair to WWE over the years, explained how Mysterio felt like he needed to ‘see everything’ before he got ready for his match.
‘I used to go, “You alright, brother?” [laughs] But he had to see everything, the wrist wrap, everything. He had to see it all before he put it on and look at it,’ he said on Busted Open Radio.
‘Make sure “Alright, that’s the look.” I’m the Joker tonight [or] I’m “Louis Vuitton man tonight”. Like, whatever his gear, he had to lay it out. It was a ritual, I watched it a bunch of times.’
Mysterio, who has had countless iconic masks and outfits over the years, is still going strong after 35 years in the business, and he’ll be teaming with Zelina Vega against his son Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan on this week’s episode of Raw.
The master of the 619 has been open about nearing the end of his career as he approaches his 50th birthday in December, but he’s still loving his time in the ring.
The former world champion, who underwent knee surgery late last year, exclusively told Metro.co.uk in April: ‘So I think – I knew I had a number in mind. and I said I didn’t want to go past that. But I’m truly listening to how my body has been reacting.
‘And my body has been reacting great, and my motivation is still on point. I want to make sure that everything, coordination wise, is still on point in order for me to continue. As of yet, you know, I’m good!’

He insisted he feels ‘great’ and ‘motivated’ to be in the ring, and he explained that he had a much easier time of things with his latest injury rehab compared to other setbacks.
‘It was much easier. The procedure was minor compared to my previous surgeries on the left knee,’ he said.
‘Just the meniscus tear, three [or] four months of recovery, and ready to go back. But overall, I do feel better!’
