One of the nineties’ most iconic bands took to the stage at British Summertime Festival this weekend – marking the return of the Corrs, whose frontwoman appeared as youthful as ever.
The band released their first album, Forgiven, Not Forgotten in 1995. They shot to fame with their hit single Runaway from the same album – one of the decade’s most defining anthems.
Between 1995 and 2005, the Corrs released five albums before taking a hiatus from the industry.
The band, which consists of Irish siblings Andrea, Caroline, Sharon and Jim Corr released a sixth album, White Light, in 2015 before returning to the stage in 2017 and releasing another album that same year.
The group staged another comeback last week, ahead of their forthcoming UK and Ireland tour this November.
Appearing at the British Summertime Festival at Hyde Park as ‘special guest’ to headliner Shania Twain, frontwoman Andrea, 50, led her siblings in a performance of hits So Young, Radio, Breathless, and What Can I Do.
The band announced that they would be playing at BST Hyde Park on Sunday, in a series of posts to their Instagram account. Fans in the comments were quick to remark how time had been kind to their favourite artists.
‘Amazing then Amazing now! Timeless!’ exclaimed elgoliath_artist.
‘Is she a vampire? How does she still look EXACTLY THE SAME,’ said _cleo_black.
‘Hello Andrea I love your outfit you looks [sic] like teenager,’ wrote feselada.
‘These ladies have aged beautifully, still stunning,’ agreed missellieoc.
The star teamed black Dr Marten boots with a boob tube dress and red floral chest piece – retaining her signature jet-black hair and preference for darker clothes.
Meanwhile, sister Sharon, 54, donned a silver dress with black waistband as she played her signature violin for the crowd.
As Caroline, 51, laid into the drums in a red top, Jim, 59, rocked out on lead guitar, clad in sunglasses and a dark jacket.
As the band performed for their 65,000 strong crowd, it seemed as though time had barely passed at all since their 90s heyday.
It looks like time will continue to stand still as the band announced that they will headline London’s The O2 as part of their UK and Ireland tour.
Kicking off in November, the tour, titled Talk On Corners, will stop in Belfast, Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle, before culminating at the O2 in London.
The band will be supported by fellow BST act and 90s icon Natalie Imbruglia, with tickets the event available on LiveNation.co.uk.
The band made headlines last week after Sharon found herself banned from a RyanAir flight while trying to travel with her violin.
Writing on her Instagram story, Andrea described how she had been ‘humiliated’ by the corporation after being booted off a flight originating in Madrid, Spain, where she lives with her two teenage children.
‘Today I was booked on a @ryanair flight. I got up at 6 in the morning. I was not allowed on the flight because I had my violin. I was in the airport for 7 hours,’ she wrote in a post to her social media account.
She continued: ‘I had to return home after searching for my checked in bags. Humiliated, angry then crying as only a good woman can do.
‘Why was I going to Dublin? My home turf, to rehearse, to go on tour! I’m beyond disappointed.’
She went on to name and shame the airline’s CEO, signing off: ‘Michael O’Leary shame one [sic] you.’
