Married At First Sight UK fans were quick to share their fury towards groom Adam Nightingale, as he made a shocking confession to the other couples.

As the first Commitment Ceremony of the series got underway on Thursday, Adam and his wife Polly Sellman were grilled by the experts, with the former admitting that he still felt there was 'something missing between them.'

Having admitted at the Dinner Party that Polly 'wasn't his usual type,' Adam raised eyebrows by brazenly stating: 'She really fancies me and I want to be attracted but I can't. She's not my type. We get on like a house on fire but I feel bad for her.'

Fighting back tears, Polly said: 'It's not great, because I know I'm not... I know I'm not what he normally goes for, however I know that everything else is there and it's hard because it's like ''why are you not doing what you're doing if you saying all this stuff.''

While Adam attempted to justify his side, Paul Brunson noted that despite repeatedly insisting that Polly isn't his type, the pair still consummated their marriage.

The admission that Adam and Polly had been intimate came as news to the rest of the group, drawing gasps from many other couples.

Adam tried to justify it, stating: 'If I'm affectionate with her because I don't want to give the wrong itdea and I don't want to hurt her...That felt natural at the time.'

But viewers disagreed, and were quick to share their reaction to Adam's comments, and his admission to the other couples.

Posts on X included: 'I understand Adam doesn't feel a chemistry with Polly that's how it is sometimes, however his immaturity doesn't allow him to articulate himself better as to not insult or hurt Polly's feelings;'

'If you can't say a bad word about her then she is pretty much perfect for you. Adam you're a sap;'

'The audible gasp from the room when they heard Adam and Polly did beat ah f**k;'

'The group's reaction to Paul revealing that Polly and Adam have had sex was epic. Now they know what an a**e Adam is;'

'Actually I think Adam does find Polly attractive, they've ad sex so the attraction is obviously there. His ego thinks he deserves better than her;'

'Adam keeps missing out the fact he's had sex with Polly but telling everyone he's not attracted to her. Zero discipline;'

'So having sex with someone you're not attracted to is not giving mixed signals, Adam;'

'I'm really confused, Adam isn't sexually attracted to Polly yet he's had sex with her, talk about giving her mixed signals;'

But despite the clear divides in their relationship, both Polly and Adam opted to plough on with the experiment, choosing Stay.

Viewers had already been left divided over Polly and Adam's romance during their disastrous honeymoon - with many accusing him of leading her on.

The reality show has returned to E4 for a brand-new series and after three hugely successful runs, two BAFTA nominations and even a baby, the upcoming fourth series is set to bring more love and drama than ever.

The latest episode of the E4 show saw Kent based careers adviser Polly, 28, on her honeymoon with barber Adam, 33, from Nottingham.

The couple consummated their marriage on their wedding night but after Adam showed her no physical intimacy during their honeymoon she started to become insecure.

Adam told her that he was a 'slow burner' when it came to relationships but did later admit she wasn't his 'type'.

On the honeymoon Polly asked him: 'So we went into it on the wedding night, and now it hasn't happened all week.

'It would obviously just be nice for me to hear from you, like your head is kind of at the moment.'

Adam replied: 'There's nothing on your part. It's I know it's a bad thing, but it's not you, it's me. I feel like it can change.

'I do like you and I've got to know you I've realised how amazing you are and how good of a person you are.'

Polly replied close to tears: 'That was really sweet. I just haven't heard such a positive praise from someone or a partner for so long.

'The fact that you are after such a short space of time, it's huge.'

And viewers were left divided over their future as some said they were a bad match while others thought he was leading Polly on.

They penned on X: '#MAFS I think #Polly is far too good for #Adam. Here's a thought - don't give someone mixed messages and sleep with them if you are unsure! Adam wants a skinny brunette! Clearly that's worked well for him in the past. Give Polly a chance - she's beautiful & seems lovely.',

'Polly seems like she's willing to accept whatever scraps Adam will throw at her because she's been treated badly in the past, and Adam knows it. #MAFSUK #mafs.',

'Polly leave Adam now. You are wasting your time, he doesn't deserve you #mafsuk #mafs.',

'Adam was going to go in on Adam for just wanting to get his end away because he knows he doesn't like Polly, however she knew that as well and went for it. #mafs #MAFSUK #mafshysteria.',

'Adam on MAFS has a cheek really. Polly is lovely and doesn't deserve to be made to feel crap by someone with an inflated ego. So many red flags.'
