Gorka Márquez actually asked for medical advice when donning his eye-catching black PVC trousers on Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing.

And he didn’t have to go far, being paired with expert and media personality, Dr Punam Krishan.

The Spanish pro dancer, 34, set pulses racing among fans with his costume for the couple’s foxtrot to Shania Twain’s hit Man! I Feel Like A Woman!, which earned them a score of 18.

Echoing the clothing from the famous video, Gorka donned the trousers with sunglasses and a black mesh top – much to many viewers’ satisfaction, who admitted they ‘couldn’t stop thinking about them’.

However, the man himself joked he ‘couldn’t look at myself in those trousers – so tight!’ when they were raised on Strictly companion show It Takes Two on Thursday night after trending on social media.

He then shared a phrase in Spanish with host Janette Manrara, which she confirmed meant the garment was ‘tighter than the nails in a submarine’.

Gorka compared himself to Friends character Ross Gellar after using talcum powder to avoid chafing.

Partner Dr Punam was also called in to give him recommendations as they stood ready to make their entrance on the live show.

‘We were just about to go on for the announcement of couples and he’s like, “What do I put on? Do I put on powder, do I put on cream, so I put on Sudocrem?” And I was like, ‘Not now, Gorka, not now!’,’ she laughed.

When Janette assumed he had asked Dr Punam because she was ‘a woman’, Gorka immediately interjected with ‘doctor!’.

‘I was in good hands!’ he pointed out, of the thoroughly qualified Morning Live star, who also works as a locum GP.

‘He’s like, “What’s going to make me chafe the least?” Just dance, will you!’ she said of her their exchange – and her nervous mindset – backstage.

‘We really have to thank @VickyGillDesign for her “costumes” on Gorka and Vito so far this year,’ joked @DebbieBlackma14 on X after watching the segment, while another account dubbed his PVC bottoms ‘the trousers everyone is talking about’ and ‘a gift that keeps on giving’.

He acknowledged the thirst himself later, uploading photos and quipping: ‘Apparently this outfit was a great choice.’

The couple are set to dance a Couple’s Choice routine this weekend – and make history in the process.

For they are the first competing couple in Strictly’s 20 years to perform to a Bollywood song.

The mum-of-two and Gorka, 34, will be dancing to Bole Chudiyan from 2001 movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

The film, which was India’s most expensive at the time and stars megastar Shah Rukh Khan, is one of the country’s highest rated and won five Filmfare awards and seven IIFA awards.

Dr Punam revealed that her grandmother in India is especially excited to watch the routine, and her mum has ‘teared up’ over it.

‘Representation matters, so for me this is a huge moment and I can’t wait.’
