Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have long been open about their marital dynamics, – Such is the case with Bell's new show, Nobody Wants This.
On the new Netflix Original series, Bell, 44, plays a sex podcaster named Joanne, who falls in love with a rabbi named Noah, played by Adam Brody, 44. Given the nature of the show, Bell and Brody share some rather saucy scenes. But luckily, Shepard isn't the jealous type — in fact, he's here for Bell and Brody's on-screen chemistry, according to the actress.
When speaking to Canadian entertainment news show eTalk on Tuesday, September 24, Bell said that some of the more romantic scenes on Nobody Wants This get both her and Shepard hot and bothered.
"Even I can acknowledge watching it, like, 'Whoa, that's hot,'" said Bell. "My husband said the same thing. Like, watching the first episode he was like, 'Oh my god, I want you to kiss him so badly.'"
Bell continued, saying that there's a skill level that comes with perfecting these scenes.
"I'm not trying to be reductive, but I think there's a math to it," Bell said. "You have two actors that know how to stare dopily into each other's eyes, and you have to have the confidence to expand that and really sit the anticipatory value before the kiss — which I think is really important."
In the past, Shepard has also said that Bell doesn't have jealous tendencies. In a 2021 interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Shepard revealed that he was in a 9-year-long open relationship before getting together with Bell.
"I'd say once we got engaged some kind of switch for me seemed to change," Shepard said. "I find [Bell] to be incredibly not jealous, which is a very hot characteristic in a partner."
This month marks the couple's 11th anniversary, as the two got married in October of 2013.
