Nicolas Cage’s son Weston has been arrested for assault with a weapon, just weeks after his mother Christina Fulton was seen with a bruised face.
The LAPD confirmed that the 33-year-old actor was released on a $150,000 (£116, 600) bail.
‘I can confirm that Weston Cage Coppola was arrested today for assault with a deadly weapon,’ a spokesman for the LAPD told The US Sun.
‘He was arrested by LAPD’s 77th Division.’
It was suggested by The US Sun that Weston’s father Nicolas, 60, paid the bail.
It is thought that this news is linked to an incident that emerged in May when Weston was accused of ‘attacking his mother and giving her a black eye.’
Weston was reportedly been named as a suspect in a battery report involving Fulton, 57, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported at the time that the pair had a ‘verbal dispute’ that turned into a ‘physical scuffle’.
In a statement to People in May, Fulton said: ‘Weston and I had no argument prior to the incident.’
‘On Sunday, April 28, I was reached out to by several of Weston’s best friends for assistance because they were experiencing Weston in a mental health crisis.’
‘Upon my arrival, I was met by my son who clearly was in a state of a mental-health breakdown, which in turn became a horrific experience.’
‘I have always supported helping my son with his mental health struggles. I am doing all I can to get him the continued support he needs.’
It is thought that Weston has been arrested before. In 2011, it was reported by TMZ that he was arrested twice for domestic violence against his now ex-wife Nikki Williams.
In 2017 he was arrested for a DUI (driving under the influence) as reported by People.
Weston is the eldest of Nicolas Cage’s three children and Fulton’s only child. Nicolas and Fulton were never married and dated from 1988 to 1991.
Nicolas also has a son, Kal-El Cage, 18, with ex-wife Alice Kim and a daughter, August Francesca Coppola Cage, who was born in 2022 with his fifth wife Riko Shibata.
Nicolas is currently on a press tour for his latest film, Longlegs, which has been hailed as his most ‘terrifying role’ yet.
While promoting this film he opened up about his life with three children from different mothers.
Nicolas told The New Yorker: ‘I have two older boys. They’re all different experiences. Each one has a different mother.
‘It’s not what I had originally thought would happen when I fell in love or got married -that I would have three different children with three different moms -but nonetheless that’s what’s happened. So every child is different. There’s a different kind of level of attention.’
