Susanna Reid is on a one-woman mission to ensure a dedicated England fan can watch the Euro 2024 final in Germany instead of going to work on Sunday.

The Good Morning Britain host, 53, was speaking ahead of Sunday’s big match, which will see England take on Spain as Gareth Southgate’s team bid to end 58 years of hurt.

Thousands of England fans have journeyed to Germany throughout the tournament, and they’ll now be making plans to get to Berlin for the big game.

But one such fan, Bradley Dewsnap from Doncaster, is facing a tough choice: stay in the German capital for the final, or head back to England for work, where he’s manager of the local Savoy cinema.

Unfortunately for Bradley, it’s not just any old film being released this weekend, it’s the new Despicable Me movie – meaning cinemas will be packed up and down the UK.

The Despicable Me franchise is one of the biggest in animation right now, with six films (including two Minions spin-offs) already out and a third Minions film planned for 2027.

After hearing about Bradley’s plight, Susanna jumped into action, clasping both her hands together, staring into the camera, and pleading with Bradley’s employer.

‘Please, let him go!’ she begged the Doncaster cinema. ‘This just doesn’t happen [very often] and he wants to see England beat Spain on Sunday night!’

Once the clip finished playing, she continued: ‘He’s already in Berlin and he’s going to have to go home. I mean, who’d have thought the Minions would intervene?’

When asked about his current predicament, Bradley said: ‘I work in a cinema. I’m the manager and it’s a big release weekend. The cinema has to be open.’

He then confessed to Susanna that he hasn’t got a ticket yet, but his dad quietly reminded him that he is guaranteed one and that the pair will be inside the stadium for the final if the Savoy allows him.

Bradley continued: ‘I’ve got a ticket to see England, but the little Minions … I’m gonna try my best. We don’t get the tickets until tomorrow so I’m going to try my best.’

Susanna eventually suggested enlisting the help of Felonious Gru, the main character from the series voiced by Steve Carrell, to see if he could cook up a scheme to keep Bradley and his dad Michael in Germany.

England reached the final after a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in the semi-final, with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins scoring dead on 90 minutes to send them to Berlin.

Southgate’s side had fallen behind early on to a Xavi Simons goal on just seven minutes, but levelled through Harry Kane’s controversial penalty 10 minutes later.

In the famous Olympiastadion venue, England will face Spain, who have reached the final by winning every game they’ve played at the tournament – Spain are the clear favourites to win.

But for Bradley’s sake, and for all of ours, let’s hope there’s an upset on the cards!
