Anthony Anderson poked fun at Donald Trump's running mate on Monday night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The actor guest-hosted for the comedian, who is on vacation and will return in September. After briefly touching on the assassination attempt of Trump on Saturday, expressing his condolences to the family of those killed or injured in the attack, the Beats star poked fun at the Republican politician's pick for vice president.

"JD Vance has everything that Trump is looking for in a running mate," the comedian told the audience. "He's white, he's...well, that's pretty much it."

"He also looks like Eric and Don Jr. had a baby," Anderson continued, showing photos of Donald Trump's two oldest sons alongside Vance for comparison.

Newsweek has reached out to JD Vance for comment via contact form and Donald Trump for comment by email.

Trump announced Vance as his pick for vice president on Monday via Truth Social, the social network he founded in 2022 after being banned from Twitter (now known as X).

The presumptive Republican candidate in November's general election, Trump said he'd chosen the venture-capitalist following "lengthy deliberation and thought" and after considering the "tremendous talents of many others."

Other famous faces previously tipped to be Trump's running mate included New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and Vivek Ramaswamy, who ran against Trump in the Republican presidential primaries.

Vance emerged as the favorite late last week, overtaking North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum in bookkeepers' odds. The North Dakota governor had been considered the frontrunner after appearing at Trump's New Jersey rally in May.

Before becoming the junior senator for Ohio in 2023, Vance was best known for his 2016 memoir, Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis.

In the book, Vance recounted his journey from growing up in poverty in Middletown, Ohio, to attending Yale Law School. The memoir became a bestseller and was made into a 2020 film directed by Ron Howard and starring Glenn Close and Amy Adams.

Vance was a long-time critic of Trump. Publicly stating that he did not vote for the Republican in the 2016 general election, Vance wrote an op-ed for The New York Times with the headline: "Mr. Trump Is Unfit For Our Nation's Highest Office."

During an appearance on Charlie Rose that same year, Vance confirmed that he was "not a Trump guy," telling the talk show host: "I never liked him."

However, the 39-year-old has since changed his stance. While running for the Ohio state Senate in 2021, Vance said he regretted his past remarks about Trump, with the former president endorsing his run.

During an appearance on Fox News in June, Vance explained his reasons for backing Trump.

"I didn't think he was going to be a good president," he said. "He was a great president. And it's one of the reasons why I'm working so hard to make sure he gets a second term."
