Warning: spoilers ahead for The Acolyte episode 8 finale.

The season finale of Star Wars series The Acolyte has left fans of the franchise reeling – especially over two extremely exciting cameos.

In episode 8 of the Disney Plus show, sisters Osha and Mae (both played by Amandla Sternberg) have life-changing decisions to make as they flit between the Jedi and the dark side of the Force.

Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) finally reveals that Osha and Mae aren’t twins, but are actually the same person… shortly before he’s Force-choked to death by Osha for killing their mother when she and Mae were children.

At the beginning of the episode, when Osha and Sith Lord Qimir (Manny Jacinto) set off on a mission to find Mae and Sol, it’s revealed that they’re being watched in the shadows by a legendary Star Wars character called Darth Plagueis.

Then at the very end of the instalment, viewers are treated to a short glimpse of none other than Jedi Master Yoda, who made his last live-action appearance in the 2017 film The Last Jedi as a Force ghost.

While Yoda has also shown up in animated form – such as in the 2008 film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and in Star Wars Forces of Destiny – seeing him in live-action again in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment has thrilled viewers.

‘If seeing Master Yoda isn’t enough reason why The Acolyte should get a second season I don’t know what the hell is,’ Bella wrote on X.

‘The Acolyte Finale was great! We finally got to see Darth Plagueis!! The lightsaber duels delivered again! Seeing Osha turn a blue saber into a red one was pretty cool! That Yoda cameo was awesome, and I’m glad it happened!’ another fan called M Mo said.

Vanessa also remarked: ‘How dare you show Master Yoda at the very end!!! I screamed!!!’

While Yoda showing up has resulted in the excitement around a possible second season of The Acolyte surging, the brief cameo of Sith Lord Darth Plagueis has sent diehard fans into an absolute frenzy.

What did you think of The Acolyte’s season 1 finale?Comment Now

The Acolyte marked the very first live-action appearance of Darth Plagueis, having previously been mentioned by Emperor Palpatine while trying to turn Anakin Skywalker to the dark side.

‘Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?’ Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) says to Anakin (Hayden Christensen) in the 2005 movie Revenge of the Sith.

‘It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a dark lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the dark side he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.’

This notion is one of the main factors that results in Anakin turning to the dark side, as he is so desperate to save the life of his love, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman).

Reacting to Darth Plagueis’ appearance, Chris wrote on X: ‘#TheAcolyte finale was damn near perfect! Can’t believe they gave us that cameo!!’

‘There has to be a season 2 right??? Especially after that cameo,’ Em added, while Dan wrote: ‘THAT small cameo, on screen for the first time, no i’m GAGGED 😭😭. THAT lightsaber thing too. idc about the cry babies, i’ve really enjoyed this show and need S2.’

Josh summarised the episode by writing: ‘Finale delivered on A LOT of different levels!

‘The fights were outstanding, the emotions were very intense, and THAT CAMEO! Such a great episode that left me wanting a lot more of The Acolyte!

‘Hopefully a season 2 is imminent!’

Ani then also stated: ‘Darth Plagueis, Master Yoda, kyber crystals bleeding on screen, Coruscant politics .. there is not a single person who could ever get me to hate this show.’

Ahead of the release of the finale, The Acolyte star Rebecca Henderson, who’s married to the show’s creator Leslye Headland, wrote on Instagram: ‘May the force be with you,’ before adding: ‘LESLYE HEADLAND YOU DID IT.’
