The season 4 finale of The Boys hit with a warning (Picture: Jan Thijs/Prime Video)

Amazon Prime Video has issued a warning ahead of The Boys season 4 finale following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

The Boys is notoriously violent but a particular scene in the latest episode which launched on the streaming service today may be particularly distressing given the shooting at Trump’s rally on July 13.

The episode in question was initially called Assassination Run but has now been changed to simply Season 4 Finale.

As the original title suggests, the episode includes an assassination attempt on the character President Shaefer.

In a statement on Instagram, Prime Video said: ‘The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt of former President Trump.

‘The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional.

‘Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.’

Just days after a bullet clipped Trump’s ear, he returned to the stage to confirm his nomination as the Republican candidate for the presidential election.

Secret Service snipers spotted gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks on a rooftop 20 minutes before the shooting. Crooks was later killed at the scene.

Crooks missed his target but killed one member of the audience, father-of-two Corey Comperatore, 50, who dived to protect his wife and daughter.

The Boys is concluding a series packed with more earth-shattering moments including Chace Crawford’s character The Deep having sex with an octopus.

The Gossip Girl star admitted, understandably, the scene in question almost gave him a ‘panic attack’.
