British shows Baby Reindeer and The Crown have both been shortlisted for Emmy Awards while The Bear has attracted a historic number of nominations.

Scottish comedian Richard Gadd is up for acting, producing and writing gongs for his part in Netflix drama Baby Reindeer - which was borne out of his stand-up show.

His co-star Jessica Gunning is also up for an acting award, one of the 11 the controversial series has been put forward for.

Baby Reindeer has been a big hit with audiences and critics but has attracted negativity for its depiction of Gadd’s real-life stalker who has now outed herself.

The Crown, another Netflix original, has received 18 nominations, including outstanding drama series, with Dame Imelda Staunton and Dominic West picking up nods for their roles.

The royal drama’s sixth series depicted the events surrounding Diana, Princess of Wales’ death and the fledgling romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Bear, meanwhile, took 23 nominations - a record for a comedy.

The 76th Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on September 15 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
