The trailer for Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, has finally arrived and everyone is saying the same thing.

The 1988 Tim Burton classic is returning for round two in a fresh sequel almost four decades after the original starring Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Catherine O’Hara.

Netflix star Jenna Ortega joins the second film as Lydia Deetz’s (Winona Ryder)daughter, Astrid, who enters a portal into the Afterlife when she returns home to Winter River due to an unexpected family tragedy.

The synopsis continues: ‘With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.’

The two-minute trailer – set to Bee Gees hit song Tragedy – sees Lydia and Michael Keaton’s, 72, Betelgeuse (aka Beetlejuice) reluctantly team up as she races to save her teen daughter. But the chaotic duo soon encounters both friend and foe along the way.

The trailer runs with the motto: ‘The ghost with the most is back’.

‘I really enjoyed it,’ acclaimed filmmaker Tim told People about returning to the franchise 36 years later.

‘I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.’

The film, packed with gory gags, also features returning star Catherine as Lydia’s mum Delia, Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson and comedy icon Danny Devito will cameo as a dead janitor.

As fans gear up for the release in autumn, many have pointed out that Batman star Michael is exactly the same.

‘Michael Keaton hasn’t played Beetlejuice in like 30 years and yet the moment he comes back to play the role for the sequel, it felt like it was just yesterday that he finished playing Beetlejuice for the first movie. What a legend he is, so blessed to live in the same time as he does,’ @billabilli1234 wrote on X.

‘It’s been 36 years since the first #Beetlejuice film and Michael Keaton has honestly aged by about 5 days,’ @lorimeganxo echoed.

‘Michael Keaton hasn’t missed a beat man. This looks like so much fun,’ @SJTimes13 added.

Michael Keaton was meant to play Beetlejuice, no one else just him.

There’s also plenty of excitement for the film as a whole, with plenty of fans ready for this trip down memory lane.

Last year Michael shared his excitement at returning to the role to Empire.

‘Beetlejuice is the most f***in’ fun you can have working. It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie,’ he said at the time.

‘[Tim] and I were talking about it years and years ago, never telling anybody. We’ve both said we’re doing it many times.

‘We both agreed, if it happens, it has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time.

‘Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something,’ he added about the filming process.

Meanwhile, Scream actor Jenna spoke about his brilliant acting.

‘It was like an animal with a gun had just walked into the room,’ the Wednesday star said.

‘To watch him physically change and appear and Michael Keaton to be gone, and for me to be dealing with this Betelgeuse guy… it blew my mind.’
