Shortly after turning 18 in May, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Shiloh, filed to change her name. Now, she has made a very public statement to speed up the process.

Just days after Angelina, 49, and Brad, 60, pleaded with their ex-husband to end the lengthy legal battle over their French winery so their family could start ‘healing’, Shiloh has issued a plea of her own.

Reports have revealed the teen has taken yet another step to push along her name change application by placing an ad in the Los Angeles Times announcing her intention to drop ‘Pitt’ as her legal surname.

TMZ reports the ad states that if a person objects to the name change, they are invited to attend the court date later this month.

According to California law, a person must publish the legal forms to change their name in a newspaper for one month before a judge can approve the petition. The announcement appears in the legal notice section of the publication.

Shiloh first filed the petition to change her name on May 27, the day she turned 18.

The former couple, who split in 2016, welcomed Shiloh in 2006. Brad, 60, and Angelina, 48, also share Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 15.

Shiloh isn’t the only child to change their name, Vivienne also appears to have dropped her dad’s last name.

Her choice was revealed on the playbill for her new musical The Outsiders, with the credits listing her just as ‘Vivienne Jolie’.

Elsewhere, Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when she joined the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in November.

A source close to Brad recently told People that the Bullet Train actor is ‘aware and upset’ about his daughter’s decision to drop his name.

‘He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,’ the source told the news outlet. ‘The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.’

They added that while he is ‘happy’ in his new relationship with Indes de Ramon, 34, being distanced from his children ‘pains him’.

It follows news of Angelina’s plea to end the former couple’s lengthy legal battle. The battle began when the Maleficent star sold her half of their shared winery, Château Miraval, for $67million (£51million) after verbal discussions fell through.

According to Brad, he offered to buy her out of the business.

The battle has become increasingly messy and included multiple allegations of abuse, including during the 2016 private plane incident that occurred one week before Angelina filed for divorce.

Earlier this week, Angelina’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, issued a new statement to People.

Paul described the Fight Club actor’s offer as ‘trying to punish and control Angelina by demanding a newly expanded NDA to cover his personal misconduct and abuse.’

He added: ‘Those actions are central to these proceedings. We are not at all surprised Mr. Pitt is afraid to turn over the documents demonstrating these facts.

‘While Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong.’

The former couple first met in 2005 while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith and married in 2014 before separating in 2016.
