An 80s TV legend has married again over a year after his wife died, having previously expressed his gratitude for ‘God sending a widower who understands’.
In February 2023, John Schneider – best-known for Bo Duke in the iconic series The Dukes of Hazzard – suffered the loss of his wife Alicia Allain, who he had been married to for four years.
Following her death from breast cancer, the actor spoke about how he called his late partner ‘my smile’, stating: ‘I miss every damn thing, every day.’
Around a year and a half later, John, 64, has wed again to Dee Dee Sorvino, after describing their relationship as a ‘miracle’.
Dee Dee is also a widow, having previously been married to late Goodfellas actor Paul Sorvino.
Paul died in July 2022 at the age of 83, with Dee Dee saying at the time: ‘Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino.’
According to People, John and Dee Dee’s marriage was announced in a press release.
Speaking about their relationship ahead of their nuptials, the Smallville actor said on Grace Begins, The Podcast: ‘God sent a widower to a widow and a widow to a widower who [gets] it, who understands. Because I tell you what, I was ready to give it up, all of it – everything.
‘God sent a widower to a widow and a widow to a widower who [gets] it, who understands. Because I tell you what, I was ready to give it up, all of it — everything.’
In a post shared on Facebook, John revealed that he and Dee Dee had exchanged their vows in a Las Vegas ceremony.
‘Big news big news everybody! DeeDee and I got hitched last night in Vegas!’ he wrote.
‘Those of you who’ve been riding shotgun with me this last year and a half or so can understand that I never dreamed that happiness would be possible again. I’m here to tell you that you are stronger than you think!
‘And those folks who have “gone on ahead” are absolutely not only watching from above… but giving us the necessary small nudge… and the occasional kick in the butt to do the right things!’
He continued: ‘I honestly never thought I would ever laugh again… and now I laugh all the time! I sure do love that crazy dame at the end of the bar!’
The actor concluded by paying tribute to his new wife and both of their late spouses, writing: ‘Thanks DeeDee! Thanks, Paul!! Thanks, Alicia!!!’
Prior to Alicia and Dee Dee, John was married to Tawny Little from 1983 to 1986, and to Elly Castle from 1993 to 2014.
He has three children – two are Elly’s children from her first marriage, and the third is a daughter who he shared with his second wife.
