McDonald’s is changing up its menu soon… (Picture: MCDONALDS / GETTY)

McDonald’s fans were gutted at the end of last year, when the fast food chain axed a popular burger from its menu.

Petitions were started to bring it back, numerous posts were shared on X (formerly Twitter), begging the company not to take it away, and I’m sure a tear or two was shed.

But fans will likely be thrilled to know the Philly Cheese Stack, which some hailed ‘the best burger McDonald’s has ever made’ is coming back very soon.

Maccies recently revealed the line-up of prizes available as part of its Monopoly game, which will be returning to the UK from September 4, and as part of this they also shared that two fan-favourite items would be returning to the menu.

Among the list of products that will feature Monopoly stickers were the aforementioned Philly Cheese Stack — a burger containing two beef patties, cheese sauce, two cheese slices as well as grilled and crispy onions and pickles in a toasted bun — as well as the Chicken Big Mac.

Some say it’s McDonald’s ‘best burger ever’ (Picture: McDonald’s)

The Philly Cheese Stack first launched in October 2023, but left the menu at the end of November, with fans saying Christmas was ‘ruined’ because of it.

Online, @_elliottxo said: ‘That Philly Cheese Stack is the best limited-edition burger McDonald’s have ever done.’ While @rednuoPdnuorG described it as ‘sensational’.

@HoodieUce said: ‘That new Philly Cheese Stack from McDonald’s might genuinely be the nicest fast food burger I’ve ever tasted.’

@McDonaldsUK the Philly cheese stack is undoubtedly the best burger I’ve ever had from you guys. The twix McFlurry was perfect as well and big thumbs up to the toffee apple pie. THANK YOU for bringing new items!

Similarly, @MrCarrReads claimed it was ‘the best burger they’ve done in years’, as @jenxcamp thought it was ‘undoubtedly the best burger [they’d] ever had.

And @PZReInV added: ‘That McDonald’s was life changing. Philly Cheese Stack is some real eats, plus the sticky toffee apple pie after.’

The burger was said to be so good, that a petition was even launched for its return last year, by a change.org user known as Naomi Campbell. She said the Philly Cheese Stack as ‘incredible’ and confessed she was ‘devastated’ to lose it.

More than 100 people signed the petition, asking to keep the burger as a permanent fixture on the McDonald’s menu.

As well as the Philly Cheese Stack’s return, chicken fans will also be able to get their hands on the Chicken Big Mac once more, as it will also be returning to the menu in September.

The giant burger was last featured on the menu in December, and was more recently replaced by the Double Big Mac and Double Big Mac with Bacon that returned as part of McDonald’s 50th birthday celebrations.

McDonald’s menu changes every six weeks, with the last change coming into force from July 17, so it’s likely we should expect to see these burgers, plus a few other new and returning products back in UK restaurants and on the app very soon.
