Having a huge 18-step skincare routine loaded with layers of serums, toners and creams (and all the conflicting active ingredients that implies) is unlikely to be great for your skin – or your bank account.

But on the flip side, even the most streamlined routine cannot be without some SPF, and that goes double in summer when the sun is out in full force.

Dr Anjali Mahto, author of The Skincare Bible and a Consultant Dermatologist at 55 Harley Street, previously told Metro.co.uk that ‘sun cream is absolutely vital’. She added that not only is 80 to 90% of skin ageing down to ultraviolet light, but skin cancer rates in the UK have also been rising ever since 1970.

So taking your SPF seriously is about as, well, serious as it gets. And yes, whether you’re in full sun or you’re chilling in the shade, you should still be applying sunscreen just the same. UV rays can hit your skin even in indirect sunlight, and they can bounce off a range of surfaces to boot. As for clouds and windows? UV rays pierce through those too.

With that in mind, if you’re looking for a powerful product that layers really well with the other steps in your skincare and make-up routine, then look no further than the Q+A Peptide SPF50 Anti-Ageing Facial Sunscreen.

Q+A Peptide SPF50 Anti-Ageing Facial Sunscreen

Q+A Peptide Anti-Ageing Daily Sunscreen offers SPF 50 broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and includes peptides for a youthful boost, vegan collagen pre-peptides for firmness, adzuki bean extract for improved skin tone, and meadowfoam oil for moisturisation. Not only does this cream work wonders for your skin, regardless of your age, but it also absorbs into your face like a silky dream. That means you don’t have to worry about it pilling under your make-up or over your moisturiser.

Like dermatologists recommend, I apply this and any sunscreen after I moisturise as the final step in my skincare routine before I move on to whatever make-up I pick for the day. I put three pumps on for good measure, and it still sinks into my skin, almost like it was never there.

There’s none of that annoying greasy residue that you get with some other SPF products either, which, as an oily skin girlie myself, means a lot.

And at just £15 from Sephora, it’s kind on your wallet too.
