We’ve all been talking about the ‘unsexy essentials’ we need that aren’t all that glamorous, but really help us tick along well. Things like your favourite extra-strength deodorant or anti-chafe stick – you know the type.

Well, this is an ode to one of my current essentials: the E45 Lips & Dry Skin Balm.

From the makers of everyone’s favourite, trusty dry skin cream comes a little tube of magic that makes all of your skincare woes go away.

Better yet? It currently has 40% thanks to Amazon’s annual Prime Day event – but you’ll need to be quick as that ends on July 17.

E45 Lips & Dry Skin Lip Balm

Non-oily and fast absorbing, the does-it-all balm softens, nourishes and effectively moisturises exactly where you need it to, specially formulated for chapped and cracked lips, as well as small dry skin patches on the body and the hands.

And no, it’s not ‘just vaseline’, it’s SO much more. Formulated with highly purified lanolin, vitamin E and beeswax, the E45 balm helps your skin regenerate when it’s feeling worse for wear, not just keep it hydrated.

While I love it for my lips (it keeps them so satisfyingly hydrated), I’ve found its unmatched for dry skin patches like eczema and dermatitis, too. Dry elbows? Check. Flaky eyelids? Double check. Painful, peeling cuticles? Check again.

When I have a cold and spend the whole week blowing my nose, I always end up with a sore, peeling nose for days and it drives me nuts. But now, all I have to do is apply some of the E45 balm to my nose and literally overnight my skin is transformed. Like completely healed, smooth and repaired.

But this clever balm shocked me again when I went away on holiday. I’m an insect magnet and, despite bug sprays, end up getting eaten alive when I go away. I’m also very reactive to them so end up with itchy, painful and swollen bites all over the shop. Not fun.

When the bites were feeling particularly bad, in a bid to help myself I slathered on some of the E45 Lips & Dry Skin Balm to the bite and felt instant relief.

The itchiness stopped, the discomfort went away, and the bites began to heal much quicker.

I also love that it comes in a conveniently dinky tube (though still a long-lasting 30ml size) which is perfect for travelling and chucking in your bag for on-the-go.

But I’m not the only E45 balm fan out there, with over 900 people snapping up a tube in the past month alone and hoards of people calling it a five-star buy.

‘This is the best lip balm I have ever tried. Wrote five-star reviewer Stefano Le Pera. ‘My wife, after trying it, ditched all her balms and asked me to buy this one instead just for her. You really cannot go wrong with this one.’

A second added: ‘Brought for sore inside lips. Very good. Also excellent on my dry elbows. Highly recommend.’

‘This product can keep lips in great condition for hours.’ Raved a third. ‘I use it overnight and in the morning under lipstick. The best product for dry lips that I have found.’

If you’re a dry lips, dry skin kinda person, then you’ll want this in your basket ASAP.
