Nuts have been pulled from supermarket shelves over fears they could release cyanide.
Buram Nuts in Syrup have been recalled by Wholesaler Leo’s Import Export & Trading Ltd.
The product contains apricot kernels which release hydrogen cyanide when eaten, the Food Standards Agency said.
All best before dates for the 420g pack size are included in the recall.
Customers who purchased the product can return to the point of purchase for a refund.
The Food Standards Agency said: ‘This product may contain foreign bodies and also contains apricot kernels.
‘The release of hydrogen cyanide from the apricot kernels when consumed makes this product unsafe to eat.
‘If you have bought the above product do not eat it.
‘Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund or to Leo’s Import Export & Trading Ltd for a full refund.’
Last week McCain’s issued an immediate recall notice for a number of products sold across the UK.
An error in the compliance check process meant the items were not properly assessed for distribution on the UK market.
In June supermarket Iceland issued a recall on their Golden Savoury Rice Steam Bags due to ‘serious health risks’.
