The 2024 Paris Olympic Games are drawing to a close with athletes from all over the globe battling for prized gold medals.

Friday, July 26, was the start of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, with an opening ceremony taking place along France's Seine River. Thousands of athletes participated in the parade of nations. They were led by Greece and its flag-bearer, Giannis Antetokounmpo, as a tribute to the ancient Olympics that inspired the modern Games.

Throughout the Opening Ceremony, a masked person ran through the streets, climbed buildings, and parkoured their way across the Paris skyline while holding the torch. The individual was later revealed to be the lighter of the Olympic flame.

Since the games started last month, there have been a number of iconic moments. Newsweek has put together an array of different pictures since the games began, showing moments that will likely go down in history.
