Michael Schumacher’s former team-mate has revealed whether the F1 icon’s first reported appearance in 11 years would mean he is returning to public life.

Schumacher reportedly attended his daughter’s wedding last weekend, which would mark his first public appearance after he suffered life-changing injuries in a skiing accident in 2013.

This has raised hopes the public may begin seeing the seven time World Champion again.

But Johnny Herbert, who was Schumacher’s team-mate for his first two F1 world titles with Benetton, has raised doubts.

He told CasinoHawks: ‘I can’t comment because I really don’t know about the situation. No one does.

‘It sounds better. But is he able to enjoy that moment? I don’t know but let’s hope so.

‘It would be wonderful if we did start seeing him but the longer it goes on and we don’t, there’s always that doubt.’

Guests at Gina Schumacher’s were reportedly made to hand over their phones in order to protect her father’s privacy.

No pictures have been leaked of the event with Gina posting just one photo from her wedding to Iain Bethke.

Only a select few people outside of the Schumacher family have been given permission to visit him at his heavily-guarded home in Switzerland.

The Schumacher family have maintained radio silence on his current condition but Elisabetta Gregoraci, former partner of Flavio Briatore, claimed the former Ferrari driver can now communicates with his eyes.

She said in 2020: ‘Michael doesn’t speak, he communicates with his eyes.’

‘Only three people can visit him and I know who they are.

‘They moved to Spain and his wife has set up a hospital in that house.’

However, the Schumacher family have reportedly ‘widefuly refuted’ her claims.
