Is it real or another fan-made trailer? (Rockstar Games)

A trailer suggesting Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally coming to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, in March 2025, has leaked on social media, but it might have been abandoned.

Just yesterday Rockstar’s fan favourite Bully was listed on the Taiwanese and Australian age rating boards, suggesting that the 2006 classic is being remastered for the newer generation of consoles soon.

Now a trailer has leaked claiming that Rockstar’s highly acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2, which came out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2018, could finally be coming to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

The trailer was allegedly leaked by an ex-employee and states that the release is March 2025, but they think that there’s a good chance the port has been abandoned.

The 44-second trailer was leaked on Reddit, where the post has since been deleted or removed, but the source claims:

‘A trailer for RDR2 on ‘new’ gen I was shown when I worked at Rockstar for a short time. However, I think it has been abandoned as to not interfere with GTA 6’s marketing, unless they delay that and give fans more RDR content as holdover,’ the leaker said in the removed Reddit post, but was captured and shared on Twitter.

‘It focuses more on Arthur and the story instead of any graphical features. Pretty much to get old fans all nostalgic and to double dip. So don’t get too excited. It’s pretty much the PC version on console,’ they added.

You can see the trailer below, and make up your own mind about its legitimacy, but so far fans are taking it with a pinch of salt.

‘This seems way too sloppily edited to be real. Rockstar tends to edit their trailers way more professionally than this,’ says Minimum Can on Reddit.

‘Some of the camera movement just looks like someone playing around with free cam on the PC version during cutscenes. I don’t think Rockstar would mess around with the already directed scenes. You can even see clipping at 13 seconds in. No way they’d use that,’ Jaded Darkness says.

If the rumour is true – that the Red Dead Redemption 2 port to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 arrives in March 2025 – it means that Rockstar is releasing the port and GTA 6 within six months of each other.

GTA 6 is scheduled for autumn 2025 and is so highly anticipated that the need to drum up excitement with Red Dead Redemption 2 on the current generation of consoles seems far-fetched.

At the end of the day, it could also just be a fan-made trailer, or a real one, but Rockstar decided to scrap the idea.
