Beetlejuice fans have been left in a desperate bid to get tickets for London premiere with just hours to go, after the sequel received an incredible 4-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival.

Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is the long-awaited sequel to his 1988 fantasy comedy horror film Beetlejuice.

The film will have its UK premiere at the Leicester Square Odeon on Thursday night and will hit UK cinemas on September 4.

Beetlejuice 2 sees Catherine, 70, Winona Ryder, 52, and Michael Keaton, 72, all reprising their roles, 35 years on.

It had its global premiere in Venice on Wednesday, and fans flooded X, formerly Twitter, to reveal their plans to attend the London premiere.

Beetlejuice follows ghosts who hire Beetlejuice (Michael, pictured) to scare away Lydia (Winona, pictured) and family after they buy their old home - but Beetlejuice falls for her

The Beetlejuice (1984) plot is as follows: After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house.

When the unbearable Deetzes family (Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Winona) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success.

Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael), a rambunctious spirit whose 'help' quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's plot line reads: 'Three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy.

'Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life soon gets turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter discovers a mysterious portal to the afterlife.

'When someone says Beetlejuice's name three times, the mischievous demon gleefully returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.'

At Wednesday's premiere, Winona wore a suit-inspired dress and hugged Jenna, who stunned in red.

The ovation they would later receive was cut short by the festival organisers turning off the lights so the cast could leave.

Jenna previously told The New York Times of working with Winona: 'She was so warm and welcoming and kind and inviting right from the jump, and I couldn't be more grateful.

'It was at a time where my career was taking a different turn, and I didn't realize that I needed that from somebody who could relate, but I did,' she said, adding that she was in a 'transformative' period in her life after shooting to overnight superstardom on Netflix's Wednesday.

Previously, Winona admitted to Slash Film that she found it 'hard to imagine' a sequel of the hit film.

She said: 'I think certainly, I never pictured Lydia either having children or in any type of relationship.

'I just always thought she was just probably in her own world as she got older. Just sort of in the attic and happy, but alone.'
