One of the stars of Gavin and Stacey has been spotted on set, and it truly looks like she hasn’t aged in 17 years.
Fans of the beloved sitcom can barely contain their excitement as they devour every last detail they can about the upcoming Christmas special.
The programme will see the return of cast members including James Corden as Smithy, Ruth Jones as Nessa and reportedly Sheridan Smith as Smithy’s sister Rudi.
And now, Melanie Walters, who first played Gwen West on the show in 2007, has also been spotted making a return.
Gwen was introduced on the show as the mother of Stacey (Joanna Page) and Jason (Robert Wilfort), in what became the actress’ best-known role.
She certainly looked like she was in high spirits as she was photographed filming a wedding scene, wearing a multicoloured dress, a green blazer and a bright orange fascinator in her hair.
Melanie, who’s also appeared in TV shows including Casualty, Holby City, Being Human, Father Brown and The Bill, was making sure she kept comfortable in between takes, wearing what looked like Uggs on her feet.
It truly looked as though she hasn’t aged in almost 20 years as she beamed while surrounded by members of the crew.
Several of cast members were seen filming on the day, including James, who was photographed in a dark blue suit and brown shoes with a white flower pinned to his jacket.
It appears fans are finally going to see Smithy and Nessa tie the knot after waiting years for the huge British TV moment to take place.
Melanie’s character Gwen was last seen in the 2019 Christmas special, which ended on a cliffhanger as Nessa confessed her love for Smithy and proposed to him.
After a five-year wait, the 2024 Christmas special will reveal what happened next – and we’re all invited to celebrate the big day.
