Liam Payne has some unfinished business with former bandmate Niall Horan.
On Tuesday, October 1, the One Direction alum shared a series of videos on his Snapchat story explaining he is headed off to South America with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. Payne, 31, told followers one of the reasons for the trip was to talk with Horan, also 31, captioning his clips, "We're going to Argentina to see Nialler." Horan is on tour for his latest album, The Show, and is set to play at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, October 2.
"We're going to Argentina, one because we have to, and two because we want to, and three because Niall Horan's playing down there," the English singer stated in the video. A "woo" could be heard in the background, possibly from Cassidy. "And I think we might just go and say hello [to Horan]," Payne remarked. "It's been a while since I and Niall have spoken," the former X Factor contestant admitted, before saying, "We got a lot to talk about, and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy." The "Strip That Down" singer clarified that he simply needed a conversation and would not bring bad energy. "No bad vibes or anything like that, but just... we need to talk," Payne added.
Fans were seemingly concerned about Payne's state of being and Horan's safety as they took to X (previously known as Twitter) to share their thoughts.
"hope he [Horan] fills a restraining order," one person wrote.
"Hopefully his fellow band mates see this and help him. He obviously is reaching out the best way he knows how to I know Louis [Tomlinson] has helped him a lot. Hopefully he has seen what is going on with Liam," a fan posted.
Another individual said they felt that Payne seemed bitter, and rehashing the past while Horan is on tour doesn't make sense. "I don't know but maybe his concert in the middle of tour isn't the best place to do that at ? Idk why but with Liam it seems like he goes out of spite and jealousy, all bad vibes babe especially to call him a boy. I think the boy is someone else. @LiamPayne," one X user wrote.
In the past, Payne has been open about his mental health struggles. In July 2023, he posted a YouTube video sharing he went to a treatment facility and apologized for the negative comments he made about his former One Direction bandmates on Logan Paul's impaulsive podcast
