Netflix has finally made a season 4 announcement and fans can’t cope as it’s revealed that the fourth season will be all about Benedict Bridgerton.

Finally, after months of speculation about which Bridgerton sibling will be the focus of the fourth season of the show, Netflix has answered!

The platform revealed that the show won’t be covering Eloise’ love story, which follows Colin’s chronologically, and will instead flit back to the second eldest Bridgerton brother – who was set to be the focus of the third season but was skipped in favour of Polin’s love story.

Netflix announced on social media in true Lady Whistedown style: ‘It has been brought to this author’s attention that perhaps it is time to unmask the newest suitor of the marriage mart… Benedict Bridgerton’s story is coming next season.’

An accompanying video showed Benedict actor, Luke Thompson, holding a script and opening a door as he is told he needs a suit for a masquerade ball.

The video coupled with the announcement truly sent fans over the edge as they took to social media to share their excitement.

A press release announced: ‘The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.’

In season three of the show, which focused on Penelope and Colin Bridgerton’s love story, Benedict began having an affair with Lady Tilley.

She later invited Benedict into her bedroom with another man, Benedict explored his sexuality with this new character.

Although fans were delighted to see this type of representation in a period drama many questioned what this means for the character in the series as plot has diverged so much from the book.
